O.M.G the full video footage of Oliver Townend horrid fall caught by a spectator

I cant believe they sat there filming it when Oliver could have been dead or dying. That is absolutely sick. You would have thought out of decency that they would switch the camera off and not pan in and out of his face while he was receiving medical care.

I only watched the fall earlier today because I was watching some of the other riders go around, and was only watching Olly because I knew he was mostly alright but I couldnt watch hardly any of that video.

Ditto this absolutely - I missed the fall as I was skipping about on the internet, but had no desire to go back and watch the footage when he might have been dead :o Thankfully he was a very lucky man

Is so arwfultowatch glad they are all ok, brings it all home a bit. Did you notice allthe horses fell the exact same way? all left fore nearside to low to clear fence.

There is also footage of the two others riders that also fell. Was on my f.b and some one posted the video on a friends page, i noticed the pin's never broke on the fence..

Agree the filmer of that vid is sick, why zoom in on oli's face when they do not know the outcome, its as if they are hoping he is bad!

Agree about the only interesting bit being it shows the other 2 falls where the horses made exactly the same mistake as ashdale c and in all 3 falls the frangable pin does not break!

Actually, i don't think it is sick, because he is ok.... and you watch the video knowing that.

I found it interesting to watch, noticed how the horse made a mistake and how his jacket inflated saving him from more serious damage.

I think it is human nature to be curious.

I agree that they probably shouldn't have zoomed in so much after the fall, but filming falls can be really beneficial as a learning point understand how and why the horse falls can help design preventative measures for future events.

Be interesting to see if the video features on the 2 point website?!?

Spot on. All you hypocrites clicked the link and watched it, knowing what was going to happen. If you're so bothered by it, don't watch it.

Errr, not all of us "hypocrites" realised that the person filming was going to zoom in on his face whilst he was lying there and keep filming.

Some things never change do they...:p

I just think advertising the BP is in rather poor taste while at least one of the fallers is, I believe, still hospitalised... although if course it may have no connection to the company in question, to be fair to them.

Have you seen the video footage on point two air jackets trade stand!!!! I agree they shouldn't have zoomed right into Oliver's face, that was very wrong.

And where exactly do you get the knowledge that we all clicked on the link  I didnt, I knew what happened already, so I didnt watch it - that doesnt detract from my opinion that it was wrong to keep on filming it

Do get your facts right before you make rash accusations and label people as hypocrites.....

They didn't film it knowing he was ok, he could have been dead for all they knew or cared. I watched it because I knew he was fine - if he hadn't been I wouldn't have watched it.

And you could argue that all us hypocrites knew unlike the maker of the film the outcome of the fall, oli is out of hospital and happily going to make a full recovery! Whilst as far as the sicko that filmed it is concerned he could have been dieing!

with regards to the pin - someone posted yesterday saying that the pins are designed to give under horizontal pressure not vertical pressure which would explain them not giving - not sure how correct this is but would explain them not breaking

Maybe they should have edited out the zoom in bits as not really necessary, but I'm sure most people would keep filming hoping that he is going to be OK - they do it in all other sports when there is a crash - people want to know all is well.
Anyway that had to hurt, glad the horses were OK, but those jackets are a great idea!!

If anybody had been there, by the fence they would have stopped and seen the outcome, bottom line is everyone wants a good outcome. Again its human nature. Yes it may seem a bit odd to film it, and personally i wouldnt have.

But im sure it wasnt done for sick purposes.

OK, it is intrusive, but I take it they waited till they knew he was ok to post it.

I am more concerned with the fact that they took his hat off, and were moving his head about. Had he broken his back, or had a back injury that could have had a bad result. OK she cradles his head, but I thought you should leave the helmet on, like you do for a bike crashj.

I spent some time living in the states and they do have a different set of procedures used for first aid, but I agree probably not the best thing they could have done!

I was just about to post the same thing, with the whipping everything off, I was always taught in first aid not to remove things like helmets, bp's etc incase they are holding important things "in"...

Bloody awful fall, but maybe a video like this can be beneficial in learning about how the horse fell, and improving safety?
