O.M.G the full video footage of Oliver Townend horrid fall caught by a spectator

Point Two Air Jackets

In reply to some of the comments made about Point Two using the footage of Oliver Townends fall in Kentucky Rolex.

We would just like to say that we have not used the footage at all & the video on YouTube has nothing to do with us at all.

Point Two would not use such footage without the complete authorisation of the rider & would certainaly not use the footage of Oliver on the floor waiting for medical assistance.

We would like to add that Point Two have spoken with Oliver himself & he will be making a full recovery & is currently on his way home.

We wish Oliver all the best & would also like to congratulate William Fox-Pitt on a fantastic result.

Best regards from all at Point Two

Thanks for clarifying. Im glad it had nothing to do with you. Rather naughty of the person who posted the video as it has lead to people like me having bad feelings, thinking it was something to do with you. All cleared up now though! :) Pleased to hear Oliver is going to be ok.

Would also like to apologise to point two for jumping to the wrong conclusion with regards to the video being to do with you.

I personally think it is interesting to see the footage of the falls (did not like the zooming into the riders on the ground) as it is worrying to see that all of the falls were caused by exactly the same mistake - the horse leaving a front leg behind, and the same leg too! Maybe this is something the course builders need to look into for next year as there must be a reason for it.

1. having done a fair bit of film production (was in the industry for 12 years) when looking through the camera gives a rather odd sense of detachment from the action. I don't think they were filming it to be ghoulish in anyway. The commentary to me seems they had genuine concern and not because there is any sick pleasure in watching someone who could be seriously hurt.

2. Similarly with zooming in. The zoom lens can seen much closer than the eye and i got the impression the woman filming was doing so to check to see if he was okay and not because she was somehow getting off on him being hurt. She didn't do anything to obstruct the medical team or sitting there laughing about it. Who doesn't watch sports where there are horrible accidents and not sit and think - s**t I hope he / she is okay? I've often watched rugby matches when someone's been carried off and wish they'd give more regular updates on how they are doing. What I think is more sick is people who actually sit there not in the least bit interested if he was okay. This woman seemed to be genuinely relieved when he 'opened his eyes'.

Please don't shout but I can't understand the outcry. You can clearly see Oli trying to get up and speak so he wasn't about to die, its the quiet ones you need to worry about!
The person filming just happened to be there at the time.

I dont really see the problem. I wouldnt have filmed that, however plenty of people do and stick it on You Tube because lots of people are fine with watching it. Its life after all! You Tube is getting pretty bad with censoring, I watched a video the other day which was meant to be an amusing car parking mess-up, turned into a video of serious crashes etc. 2 people clearly died in it. If anyone worries about it - if "Ogrish" comes up on a video clip at anytime then it's a death video so swith off. The video of that guy who was killed at the Olympics is everywhere on the internet.

BTW, the poster has now removed the video.
