Thought I'd do a little update for Oaks, as some of you might have followed on the 27th I spent most the day in a car on my way down to Pembrokeshire to collect an as yet un-seen 2 year old Welsh Section D...

He's been living out with my other horse Major, and they seem to be getting along very well. He's coming in every day for a good groom and feet picked out (which he wasn't very compliant with at first, but getting there now!) and some food. He is also getting used to having to stand in the box for a little while whilst I ride Major, which again he wasn't so keen on at first, but un-fortunately on my tiny little yard a necessity!

He's been for a couple of very short in hand walks, which he's been very laid back about. But otherwise not been doing a huge amount other than looking handsome! Seems to of settled in well and I'm really pleased with him, just hope he turns out as well as I'm hoping he might! Few photos over the last few weeks.

And a little video of him and Major playing in the field. :)

Do you have gremlins on the yard? Lol some funny noises on that video!
Lovely young man, I'm sure he'll be lots of fun!

What lovely example of a Welshie. He's stunning. What little bit of trot he showed there was beautiful.

Thank you so much everyone, nice to know you all approve! A little bit of a gamble, but so far so good!

As for his height, I have n't got a stick on him yet but I would guess around 14.2 at the wither and 15 on his bottom. But I am borrowing a stick this week. String test says he will be 15.2 :)

He's so lovely :) He reminds me of my old youngster that I sold a year or so back, from certain angles they look very similar!

I should think you are thrilled with him. He is exactly what a Welsh D should be ; Devilishly handsome, agile, with movement and conformation true to the breed. ;)

So pleased he's settled in well as I know it took mine much longer to but the old ladies weren't to interested in frolicking! Keep on leaving him on his own for periods of time, its really important for him to get used to that.

Thanks so much everyone! :)

Cambrica, you're right it certainly is. He's not used to coming in particularly so it does him good to stand in for periods of time also. At first he got quite worried but he has lot's of toys to keep him occupied so think he realises it's not all that bad.

He's extremely friendly though, and fairly un-flappable and brave (from what I can tell!) which makes a nice change from my flighty little Thoroughbred.
