Can anyone recommend any food suitable for elderly dogs, our 16 yo jack has gradually began to struggle eating her food and is loosing weight as a result. She did have bakers meaty balls, we switched to small dog but this is quite crunchy. I will get her back on meaty balls as we only changed for benefit of our other dog, however any suggestions of other food would be appreciated. She does not particularly get on well with 'wet' foods.

Well I'll not bore you with my opinion with Bakers :p

Have you tried Wainwrights, the Pets at Home own brand, they do age-specific food, wet trays etc. Also Jollyes do a Lifestage brand too.

Yes, it is called Eden. I have mentioned it quite recently and if you join their facegrooup book ,you get the added benefit of talking to an actual independant animal nutritionist - for free! ;-)

It is rather good to helping dogs put on weight and is completely natural and comes in a small kibble size as well as the usual standard size most companies use.

It also has the added benefit of having a suppliment in there called Glucosamine for joints and bones of which help the slightly less able to remain active.

Please check the label of the dogs foods, age specific ones tend to be nothing of the sort, it is a marketing ploy in most cases.
