Lay in bed at half 5 this morning thinking why on earth do I bother? But up i got and got the Tog ready for our first party since 11th May - ages and ages and ages ago. Actually we've been to 2 SJ shows since but not a lot really!!

Arrived and walked the course and was gutted I hadn't entered the intermediate as although they'd built big SJ tracks the XC wasn't big at all for any class. Full marks for Stuart Buntine though who in 10 days put together the whole event and had managed to build a whole new Int and CIC** course from nothing (well apart from Belton and Osberton portables).

Dressage he was a complete monkey. He's been doing changes at home, self taught to get out of counter canter left which he doesnt like and also he was a rodeo pony yesterday. Realistically he is 3 day fit and would have gone to Hartpury today so is feeling rather well. Did lovely work until the first canter where he bucked into canter, then bucked again, then changed, i brought him back to trot and canter again so he changed again, trot, canter again then he went quite well from there but sort of meant that that section of the test didn't happen. Got a very well deserved 41.9 which was ashame as his marks for the trot were good 8's but the first canter were all 2's!!!

SJ was up to height and nice flowing course, warmed up great and jumped brilliantly until the last. Now looking back its exactly what i'd been doing in my last SJ lesson - oxer to vertical double. I think i rode the first bit then breathed a sigh of relief over the second and he literally breathed on it and it came down how annoying!!

XC - he flew, was v cool, didnt kick on but didn't pull once either so got time faults but was a lovely rhythm and he was rather too bold at everything really but as it wasn't too big that was quite fun!

No not going to blair, am half sad and half not. I decided the world and his wife would be there and when they run 2 days of XC it always really takes the atmosphere away from 3DE's. He's not out till Henbury now but then will go to Weston i think.

i did the 2 day at Aldon last year and it was fun even if all the free straw was outside and it was raining outside!!! If Weston goes wrong we'll be at Aldon too!!
