As a windy Intro rider can anyone please advise me on whether Oasby is a suitable first time run? Show jump & XC. I have heard Eland Lodge is suitable but just wondered about doing something earlier. I am based in the north but can travel with others doing higher classes.

stafford is usually nice too. Oasby is lovely .. I am quite windy and found it OK! Eland lodge is nice too...

how do you do that? I take it you cant enter online until entries open but Ive just looked at one which is accepting entries and cant see for the life of me how you enter on a day ticket?

Yes you have to purchase day tickets seperately through BE

Oasby is nice, though it is always bloody cold up there!! If you are up north, I would go for Stafford. I am an equal distance from both, and am going to Stafford in March (hopefully!). Both are nice though

Im near Southwell so not sure Stafford is close enough. I plan on doing RAF Cranwell as the first one - how does Oasby compare? As I recall Cranwell was good except they did dress the fences up with straw dolls and other scary things and my horse wouldnt go near some of them. Hes come on alot since but I'm not holding my breath!

I'm just down the road from you

Cranwell is an odd one, as everything is a bit "rickety" but seems to jump well! I've got 2 there, my cow pony is just doing the Novice HC, and a SGO who will probably suceed in jumping me off at some stage

Should be an nteresting day!! Oasby is bigger than Cranwell, but prob hasnt got as many "Interesting" things like the quarry or the coffin....

Height is not really a problem but my horse is quite 'looky' and so anything out of the ordinary throws him. We can deal with most fences until they start to decorate them - especially with things that move!

Is the course the same every year do you know? I cant really afford the petrol to go and walk it the day before and it was a terrible rush to walk it on the same morning when I did it last.
