Well everybody seems so have done so stunningly well at Oasby I'm afraid I've rather let the side down!

37.1 dressage, which was fine by me as it's not our strong point and it was a reasonable mark for the test we did. The warm-up was a bit hairy though as we were mixed in with the pony trials who all seemed to have brought a 'pony club mum' and at least one dressage trainer and were merrily half-passing all over the warm-up area. I 'm pleased if my horse is going fairly straight, never mind sideways!

Having done no SJ over the winter, to go straight back in at Nov SJ was a bit of a shock to a rather rusty jockey! I overode the first couple and had them down, then sorted myself out and jumped the rest clear.

The XC wasn't soft, and again the rusty jockey thought a couple of the fences were quite big enough, thank-you very much! Luckily the horse had other ideas and was very bold and accurate at all the skinny things.

The water was brush, stride, log/drop in then right turn in the water to skinny out. Unfortunately the horse obviously thought that would be too easy so decided to miss a stride out jumping in. I slipped my reins to the buckle end and sadly couldn't get them back quite quickly enough to make the turn to the skinny out so I had to circle and come back to it.

We had 8 time penalties with that faffing about included, which was faster than a lot of clear rounds were so I think we're probably up to speed now!

Anyway I met Cullohill and her lovely horse who did extremely well so that was a bonus. Well done to everyone else, sorry to have let you all down, will try harder next time!

There's a fabby picture of my spectacular launch into the water - I'll post a link when it's up on the website.

That must have been one helluva long one stride into the water

Onwards and upwards now, I might see you at Chatsworth (might have to save a ballot sticker for that one).

I think my face on the photo will say it all! Obviously all that playing at intermediate waters at Little Downham has given him some ideas! just need a bit more control now.

Crikey that would count as a good report from me!

Esp that dressage!

Well done - I will be aiming for no resistance in the dressage, leaving enough SJs up to go XC and completing on Sat at Aldon!!!

no needs for dunces hat it was a tough day especially with all that wind too!!

Glad you thought xc was big too not just me feeling whimpy!

I'd be chuffed with your result, especially as first outing and not much coloured poles seen over the winter.

Nice to meet you too and hopefully see you at Eland and Chatsworth (emailed entry sec at Chatsworth and dressage on same day for most sections so can enter yay but she said make sure i use super ballot sticker to ensure get in!!)
