Took Red to Oasby yesterday for his first run of the season round the BE90.

The sun was shining as we arrived but it soon started to cloud over as I went to warm-up for dressage, he was a bit behind the leg and hollow through his transitions then we went in the arena and he wobbled around a lot (maybe a bit uncertain in the ground as it was pretty churned up) anyway we got a 37.5 which is okay but he can do much better!! Here's a couple of photos of us warming-up:

Then had a couple hours wait before sj so I went to walk the xc course, was very similar to last year and nothing too concerning! He was a bit of a handful in the show-jumping warm-up and went on a few long ones

so got him in the ring and he popped the first 5 lovely then landed on the wrong leg for 6 so he was a bit awkward and popped in a little stride then a dog leg to 7 (a big spread) and he took off long and then I lost him completely down the last line, 8 on a related distance to the double at 9 at which he had both parts down due to being flat and fast but it's something we're working on!

Then the XC (wearing my new colours):

I didn't have much time to warm-up so just gave him a gallop and popped both warm-up fences and then we were off, he jumped 1-4 fab then had a long gallop before turning left to a house going downhill then a few strides later through the sunken road which he absolutely flew due to a lack of brakes and me shouting 'steady' to no avail! He then continued to fly round, didn't think he was going to clock the water but he just charged through it and kept flying, had to REALLY hook him back for the corner (as we had a run-out here last year) I jumped it head-on rather than at the correct angle and he was super then carried on galloping, bounced down the steps (although I did manage a few strides of trot before we jumped them, just to ensure he didn't sprout wings and jump them together!!!), found another higher gear up the short steep hill and then flew the last two! So we achieved out first clear cross-country

and we were within the time!

So a very happy mummy and to top it all it was my 21st, so once the pony was sorted I had some cake:

P.S. Not sure if the videos will work as I haven't posted videos before!
