I'm thinking of trying Polo at a little bit of obedience competition this summer, but can't find on the internet what exactly will be expected at Beginners level. Could anybody help? I'm not going to take it seriously, but I might as well as a lot of agility/obedience competitions are held together :).

Dog behaves fine when she's out, its only when she knows the area, as she does around my house, that she forgets her recall.

You mention you have a trainer in almost all of your posts yet seem to get little advise from them

Surely they would know what would be expected of you. where did you start with Lola? Would those classes not suit Polo?

Agree ask your trainer or someone at the club you attend? If you were at agility last weekend there should have been a lot of people to advise you.

Check the KC website.

Go to a couple of open shows and see.

Oh and regarding the left and right pawed dogs on the other post, you will have to keep your dog on the left for competitive obedience.

If I had to zap my dog 'afew times' to get him to pay any attention to me on his one walk of the week I would not be cheeky enough to enter him into an obedience competition.

As CC and Mollichop said, I'd be asking your trainer first off. If they can't help you then they should be able to pass you onto someone local who does obedience. The canine world is a small one so they are bound to know someone nearby - I've yet to met a doggy trainer who didn't know exactly "who was doing what" within a 30 mile radius :)

Also, go to a few shows, ask whoever you meet for advice... every little helps. (The best dog training advice I ever learnt was from an old farmer at the Royal Highland Show) You might get some help on the recall issue too :)
