O'Brien fined over Cape Blanco

It seems to me that the vets were being jobsworths. The horse had finished the race and been checked. I don't understand why they felt there was any need to interfere. The horse was treated by A. O'B's staff and had been made comfortable. They knew what the problem was and it wasn't life threatening. They didn't need, want or ask for any help especially from vets who are probably never going to see the horse again except possibly on the television. If the horse needed emergency treatment that would have been different but they didn't need to know how lame the horse was as it wasn't going to change the result and a sore heel wasn't going to prevent him from being fit to travel.
 
This quote from the RP article sums it up -

The BHA also gave the trainer a stern warning about his future conduct, believing he has a responsibility to set an example as a "high-profile trainer" and stating it "would have no hesitation in acting to restrict the ability of Aidan O'Brien's horses to run in Great Britain".

Perhaps they're still smarting over their failure at the Old Bailey?

Maybe they should take a closer look at a certain trainer's favourites breaking down/running badly in races where they've drifted dramatically before the off .......... that's if it really is about the integrity of racing, and not about their self-importance....
 
In the interests of horse welfare the stewards/vets who requested the second trot up should be interviewed.
Their reasons, for asking for a lame horse to trot up when the cause of that lameness was known and had already received treatment, should be made public.
