Occult Sarcoids

My horse had sarcoids, a few had been left and disappeared.
The main ones have had so cream put on the by the vet and have all gone.
They look sore by within a few days the skin will heal and hair grows back

My cob has one by her udder. I've never done anything with it, just keep an eye on it and it hasn't changed in 4years. Vet say leave alone.

Sunny had a couple of sarcoids 2 years ago. My vets were really helpful. They explained that sometimes something LOOKS like a sarcoid and isn't. It's a wart or whatever. They said the current thinking is that if something LOOKS like a sarcoid, then treat it as if it IS one. NB: not all vets subscribe to that viewpoint!!! What I mean AA is that what your ned had may not have been a sarcoid. Some do eventually become ghastly, some stay the same for years and some respond very well to Liverpool Cream. If your ned's dodgy patch has disappeared, I'd offer up a short prayer to the patron saint of horses and forget about it! Fingers crossed x

Yes!!! Mine developed one on the inside of his hind leg. Like most sarcoids, it would grow faster in the warmer weather. Had vets check it at vaccination intervals, and all of them said to leave it alone if possible unless it appeared to grow very aggressively. Then last year (about 3 years after it appeared) I brought him in, and it had dropped off! Not saying that it is a good idea to always leave them alone as there are some particularly nasty ones, and others that interfere with the wellbeing of the horse. However, this did none of the above, and against my own opinions, I left it alone. Glad I did now!!!

I must admit none of Drifters have disappeared but they have, so far, not grown bigger but then I have only had him 6 months. Two are just small oval bald patches and two are bald patches with a teeny thingy in the middle. I am going for the inner health thing as he was not in the best condition.

He had them when vetted so if they do need treatment I will be paying.

I know some vets fail them on this but mine didnt and I am just being realistic that I could have bought him and they developed after purchase. So currently monitoring them.

AA - Sunny had a couple of small bald patches that looked a bit scurfy and odd. He'd had successful treatment with Liverpool cream for a little raised sore patch on his face and I didn't think these new patches, nowhere near his face, were definitvely sarcoids. Just to be safe, and bearing in mind the "First, do no harm" rule, I bought Thuja cream at 30C potency. My YO's recommendation as she'd had success with it too. It worked a treat for Sunny on his little bald patches and I'd happily recommend it for similar odd patches, always with the proviso that if things get worse, call the vet.
