my mare has a clicky hock/stifle she is 4 1/2 yrs old. and is fairly stiff in her back legs. i have poked around her hocks to check for pain heath and swelling but nothing is there. i have suddenly stopped jumping her so im wondering wether she has suddenly got lazy using her hind legs as she feels less need to use them ? or another thing could be the fact shes growing like when i grow i get a little stiff. shes also a bit tender on her hooves atm with the hard ground. so im just trying to find a few opinions on what they think. i phones my vet and she said pain/heat/swelling would be a high factor of the ocd especially as shes got a fine breed in her so and slight pain and id imagine she would go lame.
thanks

I only discovered my youngster had OCD when she started having back pain. She worked sound, felt sound and trotted sound, and the only indicator was a shortened stride on a small circle that was put down to baby steps and inbalance. Worth getting a flexion test to check.

Yes, passed all the lameness work up until the flexion including the raised uneven trotting poles, then refused to pick one leg up, but she'd been fine up until then. Shed obviously been compensating very well which had in turn caused the back pain. Needed a scintigraphy to find the ocd and she's just has an osteopathy on both legs. Fingers crossed as the surgeon thinks there should be a good prognosis.

Oh ok. She never shortens her stride. And doesn't have anything major going on other than slightly stiff walking and a clicky sound. And her back legs are higher than her fronts so she natrually struggles to use them anyway. The problem with me is I suffer with hypochondria so I think the worst of every situation: //
