Hi! I have an 18 week lab x retriever bitch pup who is absolutely brilliant, but OH and I have noticed some really odd behaviour when she's eating. She will sniff the food then rub her nose (a lot) in her bedding then sniff the food and possibly take a mouthful. We have moved her food bowl out of her crate away from the bedding but she will still go back to it.

She's always been fed dry food that we wet well. She's been on D&H Chudleys puppy and now Junior. She's been on the junior for about 3 weeks but this behaviour has only started in the last few days! We're near the end of the sack so need to get more food soon. Do we change and keep the rest to mix with new and introduce it gradually or will she grow out of this?

She is trying to hide the food, she is jsut figuring the best way to do it

and sounds like she wants to hide it under the bed (usual hiding place) she clearly does not want to eat it all right off but also does not want anyone else to have it or poss go back or it later, I would offe rit up and when she starts, remove the food and offer her again later, maybe feed a smaller portion then add as she eats it, rather than offering her up a big bowl, lear her she gets a time limit, this may stop her faffing.

Just re read and agree with CC, u need to keep her on a puppy food, maybe a add a little sardine juice into her food to make it more palatable if she is fussy.
