I have had horses for over 50 years and this is a new one for me. Livery horse for the past few days has been starting her feed leaving it for a few yards plonking herself on the floor for about 5 seconds then getting up and finishing her food. Pooing for England as for a change is on ad-lib hay so not impacted. Gut sounds good peeing normally. Any ideas nothing abnormal about her except this sudden change in behaviour

Sounds very strange. I am not far off you in terms of years of horse ownership and I still find they do the unexpected. Have you changed feed suppliers recently? An allergy? If she doesn't need it for the weight, I might be tempted to not give her a bucket feed for a couple of days and observe.

Seems back to normal today. I am wondering if it was a delayed reaction to the equest gel she had last week as the behaviour didn't start until Monday. Very odd indeed as she gobbled down treats and carrots as per usual it was only her soupy feed she was leaving
