Odd but good.

First once or twice Robin had his jabs he was fine. The next time he reacted quite badly, couldn’t put head down to eat or drink. Vet took it to vaccine company who paid the associated vet fees for the reaction.
He has reacted each time since then, 6 monthly ones, generally needed a week of Danilon (still showing a bit of a lump and off colour) then fine. So had them yesterday. I had given him 1 Danilon the night before. Vet left more and said 2 that day and next then 1 and see what it does. By last night absolutely no reaction. So just gave him one Danilon. Expected swelling today and nothing, can’t even find the Tinyiest bump from needle. So didn’t give him any. Is it normal to have quite a severe reaction down to nothing? It’s good, I’m glad but surprised.

Mine have suffered on and off with this.....I might try the Danilon too. My vet and I thought it might be the carrier liquid in certain vaccine mixes.

A friend of mine had this problem. Her pony reacted very badly last year. After some research she had a chat with the vet and they decided on a different brand of vaccine. Touch wood, pony hasn't had a reaction this year. So could very well be the carrier fluid as midlifecrisis says.

My gelding gets a boob. The vet usually injects him in the lower chest. This results in a soft lump between his front legs that hangs there like a boob for a few days. It doesn't bother him, and after 2 days of rest, we begin light work.

However, last time he had no reaction. When he had the same vaccine 6 months prior he had a reaction. Not sure on that one.

After a few years of no problems with vacs J had a bad reaction, very stiff neck and short in front which lasted a week even on 2 bute a day. Since then he's reacted to every flu vac but not to tetanus ones, I split them to try and minimize reaction.
