Odd episode last night

I have an 11 year malamute who is fit and healthy, has regular crazy 5 minutes where she flings herself around like a puppy, she definitely doesn't act her age bless her. At about 11pm last night she got up from lying at my feet and walked about 4 steps accross the room to her bed but she seemed to be having trouble, it was as if her back legs were struggling to hold her weight, she lay down on her bed and seemed bright and perky still, she then got up and had the same action going to the hall where she lay down and again was happy and comfortable. This morning she is back to normal again and I don't know whether to worry and take her to the vet or just see how it goes. A year ago she had something that looked like a seizure but that has never happened again and the vets said she was fine and it was not worth the cost of further investigations unless it happened again. She does get the odd shiver here and there, the sort that a person has and then says "someone just walked over my grave", totally fleeting and doesn't bother her so I don't think there's enough to go to the vet about....

Mine sometimes do this it’s just like they have pins and needles from lying down. I don’t worry if it just occasionally but if became a regular event then I would get the vet to check it out.

Thanks Satan blaze, I did feel it probably wasn't worth a vet visit but with her age I tend to over analyse everything and worry it's the beginning of the end.

My old chap had a couple of similar episodes like this and it turned out to be a tumour on his heart. He was mostly his usual bouncy, nutty self but I saw 2 episodes where he went quiet and lay down for a few minutes then carried on like nothing had happened. I had that gut feeling that we might be coming to the end, and sure enough a couple of weeks later he passed away. The vet said there was nothing that could have been done in his case. He died naturally and the night before I was laughing at him zooming around like a nutter, so it was exactly how I would have wanted him to go but it was a bit of a shock!

I really hope your dog is fit and well and has many years left, but if it is something like my Cooper then take comfort fromthe idea that it's fast xx
