My lad is 17. Never sick or sorry. 16 hands trotter cross. Owned for 7 years. He’s my warhorse. Good leg in each corner. I’ve noticed over the past few weeks that when hacking out, and it’s only in walk, that his left front leg does a sort of dip for a fraction of a second. Then carries on as normal. He’s not lame. Feels absolutely sound. It’s not like a slipping stifle on the hind leg which is like stepping on a banana skin, this is like the knee or fetlock area gives way. I thought that it might have been a slip as roads have been shiny in the heat wave. Or shoes neeeded changing, he’s due for shoeing tomorrow infact. But when out yesterday, I was checking carefully and it’s not a slip. It’s a definite give way. He done it about 15 times over the 1.5 hour gentle ride. I’ll see what farrier thinks tomorrow and next stage is vet. I’m wondering arthritis? No swelling. Heat. Can lift leg and bend knee. EDIT appointment booked Wednesday morning
