Odd hunting assumptions?

My Mum was evacuated in the war to a mansion in Hampshire ( where her Mum originally came from .)

I think the mansion was pulled down a few years ago , but I digress . When walking in the grounds , she found a graveyard to some hounds ( circa 1800's ). Mum hated hunting , but this inscription made her cry :

Here lie my dogs ,
Who now , without my aid ,
Hunt through the shadowlands ,
themselves but shades .
Or, crouched intent before some ghostly gate,
Wait for me there,
As here they used to wait .'

I am in the fortunate position of being able to hunt as often as i choose but would never go fox-hunting, in my opinion it is barbaric and outdated. I have lived all my life in the countryside owning most of the land in my area and i have livestock. Most of my friends are now hunting because there is no cruelty which they did not do before. I do not believe it is a class thing i was born working class and have been fortunate enough to aquire money and no-one i know sees it as eletist.The tradition of getting yourself and your horse scrubbed up and the etiquette it teaches are the best lessons learned in todays society.
