Good Morning!

Here's hoping you lovely bunch of HHO'ers will be able to offer a few words of wisdon.

My friends mare has never had any ailments, is sweet natured, bright eyed and general a picture of health ( if a little portly in the summer months :))

However around Christmas, she started to do little wee's/ squirts in her box away from her bed ( she's very routine about where she wee's - mare that is lol)

It wasnt a cause for concern as owner thought she was just coming into season.
Its carried on, on/off un until a fortnight ago, the squirts for the last month or so had become full blown wee at times, as well as mare doing what can only be described as a sway/drip dry type dance whilst weeing and after finishing for a few moments, when after a discussion with her Vet, and a visit out to the mare she was started on some hormone treatment for 10 days to see if they could regulate her cycle.

- should mention she'd had her wee dipped/tested and nothing sinister or unusual came up (owner is a nurse and vets advised if she had dip sticks to just keep a tab on it that way too) Also she's been in regular work, appetite etc has been normal until this week.

Then on Weds of this week mare was a little quite, not wee'd at all, appetite was fine but drinking had gone to half a bucket am and pm ( medium tug trub size) to taking the top 2 inches of the bucket all day. She'd also displayed early colic symptoms late weds eve but thankfully nothing more developed and its not re-occured.
The lack of drinking and subdued behaviour (however she is brighter when walked in hand for a nibble of grass/fresh air) has continued up till now and the vets are due this aft so hopefully they can shed some more light.
Was just curious if anyone else had experienced these symptoms or anything.

Already thought along the lines of resistence to the hormone, or ovarian cyst etc.

Ginger biscuits and a cuppa for getting this far :)

One of my ponies starting doing something similar recently, he always pees when he comes into his stable but then he would go back and try to pee again. Vet advised getting a sample from him, which came back all clear and he was also blood tested for Cushings, which was also negative. Strange peeing has since stopped. Maybe speak to vet about testing for Cushings?
