Well not a good start on the friday when the times were posted - my name wasnt there ahhhh frantically contacted the organiser who kindly put us in something went wrong, so had nice times of 11am then 11:20 then 12:15, walked the course on the saturday all seemed ok few questions for his first one and considering he had been stopping when we went went xc schooling as some of you may have read the thread previously, well got there he was a tad warm - (we have had a lot of travelling issues expecting he is going to the races) got on half an hour before dressage he was going nicely few exciting moments involving a quad going across the field, obviously had to buck at this
anyway the one before me went in so cracked on with the canter to keep him awake, this person went wrong loads of times should have been E but they were nice and lenient and let her carry on Jim had gone off the boil a little, went to the dressage flower pots at all the corners of the arena and as we enter he had a look but was then fine, mum and friend said test was good, didnt find out what the score was until the end of all 3 phases, onto the sj he jumped a lovely clear including a few fillers lots of pats and polo's for the pony!!!
(we were eliminated SJ at our last attempt of an ODE) had a little wait for the xc went back to the lorry let him cool down got oursleves organised warmed up for the xc very spooky over the first log then gave him a kick and he popped it nicely the next time, then we were ready to go the person who went before me had issues with the water and was standing to the side this was fence 3, got over fence 1 nicley over 2 on to the water he could have been naughty here if he wanted due to the person stood to the side, on previous attempt at water it took me 20mins to get him in, he trotted though it like a pro
onto the wall thought brill he's going to jump as was flying then at the last minute he spotted the photgrapher dammit!!! re presented jumped it lovely, onto the next fences between 5 & 6 he thought it would be fab to have a buck and squeal, he must have been enjoying himself!!!
onto the other fences fine got to the the rail on a slope down to the trakhaner had a look at the last minute then represented had another look, let him look for a bit longer then represented and he flew it up the steps backing off a bit but went up them with persuaion form my legs he wouldnt go up steps before, then a skinny then the tyres to finsh by this time he had clicked on and was most upset to be pulled up with lots of praise!!!!
Not a clear but vast improvement on the issues we have been having, the answer I think is to jump different things everyday up to a competition this is what we have been doing this last week so it isnt a big deal to him and that hopefully he will take it in his stride, we looked at the scores and I had a 27.5 dressage
so proud of him and it was a fab event, there are some pics but they arent online yet will post a link to them - very happy next aim is for a clear and lots of hunter trials planned i will get him from a racehorse to eventer yet!!!!
