I have been having a few problems with my new mare, (only when ridden) with her not complying and being a little argumentative and twisting her body, not coming round etc. Also, when she sees my other mare who is in another field, or any geldings, she squirts everywhere. She only has to hear my other mare whinney and - legs open, squirt, wink,

So had saddler out, saddle fits great, (good job as it was fitted to her brand new about 6 wks ago), had chiro out today and she said that there were a couple of tight spots but nothing that would make her behave as she has been. Then she found the muscles just behind the saddle were quite tight and tender, just where her ovaries are!!!
So I went out and bought some NAF Oestress and wondered how long it takes to work, and does it work? Hopefully it will and this will help her as I can relate with her problems as all us women can.

Your mare's behaviour doesn't sound at all abnormal for the first season of spring. You should hopefully find things settle down with or without the supplement.

It is good though for those who can afford the ridiculous price tag

I've not used it myself but a woman at my yard uses it and absolutely swears by it as her mare can get almost frozen on the spot when she is in season and being ridden.

Brilliant stuff! I usually avoid NAF products as I think they're rubbish generally but this one is just like magic. My girl was pure evil earlier this year and this stuff has turned her round completely. She's so much happier on it. It doesn't affect her seasons in as much as I can still set my clock by her, she's still very tarty etc, but it's made her much less emotional about everything. She now works when asked despite being in season, coming into season, or just coming out of season (it was any excuse not to before). She's less nappy, listens, and concentrates.

Took a couple of weeks to see a difference, and it really was a difference.

i havent tried this particular product but we have a very seasonal mare in the riding school-when shes in season (which is non-top pretty much from first season in spring till last one of year!) she is rooted to the spot, totally glassy eyed etc but a monster in the box when it comes to handling. We have had great succes with regumate-very pricey and comes from vet,but definitely works. may be something to consider if she turns out to be very seasonal and the behaviour is a regular occurrence!

Works for my mare. Spring gets very clingy and insecure when having her first few seasons of the year and oestress really helps. I have found I can lower the dose and have taken her off it later in the summer when things have settled down for her. I am a huge sceptic of supplements but this is worth the money!
