After things taking an upturn with my idiot horse and having a new saddle and finally getting my lorry repaired I booked a lesson.
It’s really the first time I’ve taken him anywhere other than once to a school to lunge so first there’s that and second he’s just not travelled in 18 months, so it’s a pretty big thing for me.
We are going in the afternoon so they can stick to their routine and chill.

Except I came home to this 1C788713-7498-4137-83E9-82E1092C2C48.jpeg

I’ve been begging for about two years so have my yard dug up and concreted… why today and tomorrow 😫 obviously I can’t say no but what an absolute pita
I can work my way round it. Horse can be tacked up at the lesson yard (hopefully, although I fully expect him to be a complete clown the first time)
The ponies are almost my bigger worry, the oap who can’t be left in the field, even with his friend pony because he just gets hysterical and at 30 on rock hard ground I’m not risking his tiny legs.

What a nightmare!
It’s going to be amazing and I’ll love it from Monday onwards, not looking forward to the next few days 🤦‍♀️

That is unfortunate timing! Hopefully the OAP pony is happily entertained watching the digger and there are no hysterics, and the ridden horse surprises you and is sensible when you tack up before your lesson. I hope that you are able to enjoy your lesson (and your newly concreted yard when it's finished!) :)

It would terrify him, but he can’t be in tomorrow because the concrete will be wet when I get back, unless they stay in til Sunday/Monday- which would be a real option actually but horse getting back from the lesson would be cemented out 😂

I have a horse who is obsessed with diggers to the point that he will cross the road and shove his head in the cab given half a chance. He is a fairly odd horse though, he also enjoys bin day as he likes flipping the lids on the bins if he can get close enough 😂

I hope that your OAP and companion are happy out in the field away from the digger and don't try any running about. If they are on restricted grazing then could you thinly scatter some soaked hay around the field to keep them occupied? The hard ground is a real worry at them moment.

So funny! We had one that loved watching grain lorries be loaded by the forklift on the yard. I could clip him loose on the yard transfixed by what was going on!

We have a little surfaced turnout area that I hope to get them both into. At least that way he can’t get up too much speed and the ground won’t be a problem 🤞
