I'm looking to install lights for my stables & tack-room but I can't find anywhere that tells me exactly what I need.

I'm looking at solar power to trickle-feed a car battery in order to power 3 switched lights and 2 motion sensor yard lights.

I'm looking for recommendations for equipment.

I think you are better getting a solar system and not having the leisure battery. We have a system from amazon that is four lights and it can charge a USB device

If it helps I have done exactly this at two sets of stables in the past few years, both solar and battery only. I put batteries and solar panels in at one location, but found that in the winter there is not enough daylight to keep a battery topped up if there are a number of LED lights running from it, hence the solar panels need to be substantial.

On our current stables I simply have a number of dfferent LED floodlights (about 120 watts total) running from a large 120Ah leisure battery. This lasts about a month with regular use. I then have another battery that I swap it with and take home to charge up while the the other is in use.

This is certainly the most cost effective way of doing it. The lights were these 10w type off eBay, and I have a larger 30w LED floodlight that covers a yard area. I got two used 119Ah batteries for £50 off eBay too.

Its been an excellent set up, and even after a couple of years I have no reasion to change it.
