Heard a rumour that one of the irish pony riders has been told he cannot get on teams this year because he rides dangerously fast xc, so even if he wins tattersalls, he is not going to be put on teams!
Is this normal/happened before?
What are your thoughts?

I think I know who you're talking about, it may sound unfair but the selectors may be thinking of the safety aspects first, they may be worried of an accident occuring. Have never heard about this happening before though, and because it's a rumour I wouldn't count on it too much!

Oh, I don't particularly think its unfair, providing he was warned first, as I saw him at Ballygraffan and he didn't take a pull once, but was kicking on. Just wondering what others thought of it?

Yep, its happened to someone I know, they went too fast when they were told not to and hence made a mistake and didnt get on the team!
The teams have a reputation to maintain and they wont let anyone mess it up for going to fast and dangerously, it shows bad horsemanship.

The pony champs are probably more technical, so if this particular person is a bit hit and miss, then they could also think that they will end up with penalties. I imagine the selectors would like to pick the most reliable combinations rather than those who take a lot of chances.
