.........Boo has never been in an indoor arena!! I'm pretty sure he'll be ok but has anybody on here ever ridden a horse who has had major tantrums about being indoors?

I tried to book the school today to have a trial run but it's booked from 6.30am until 10.30pm, good for them but not for me

No, I think you will be fine. Its amazing how they cope. I have introduced 5 or 6 horses to their first indoor experience and they have all been OK

He can be a daft so and so and I know he'll have a good spook at the advertising boards that are around the arena but hopefully that will be all.

Just get there with plenty of time to work in so that he has time to have a goggle and then relax. My mare is always a bit spooky when we go somewhere new - let him have a long rein and look about and just rub his neck and tell him he is good. Have a wander about for a few minutes before you even take up a contact and then by the time you actually start to work in, he will be completely aware of his surroundings. Good luck!

I would just give him about 15 minutes walking around in the indoor before you even try to start working him in... Grace's first indoor was at Myerscough which is a big airy arena, but he second test was in the smaller one which was dark and spooky. I just let her walk around and get a grip on what was going on. Yes we had some scary moments, but all in all she reacted much better than expected.

You should be fine. We never had any of ours have a problem with indoor arenas even their first times. We did have one that wouldn't jump indoors though. Didn't spooked just stopped dead and got eliminated at the first fence every time. Amazing outdoors - wierd
