Can't really blame my horse, as it was my fault, but I'm lucky not to have a broken cheek bone! Anyone else ever been 'hocked' in the face? certainly a new one for me! My face is going down, though I can still see the swelling without a mirror, but my neck is simply killing me. Ho hum - that's life I guess.... Lord knows what I was thinking (that is IF I was thinking), I was putting leg wraps on and the horse moved over and I didn't, seeing as there was only one strap left to do up and ponio decided that it would be a good time to stretch out and got me on my left cheek bone/eye - gotta love the little darlings

Eeeeek! Poor you!

I've had my right orbital broken by a horse when I was head butted by him whilst leading. Knocked me sick at the time. Had a lovely black eye for a few weeks, as well as an egg above my eye. Poor Duncan got some shifty looks, I can tell you.

Oww that sounds so sore. Hot water bottles round your neck then?
I was only thinking about you over the weekend to.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks guys - am actually thinking of going back to the drs - A&E was Friday - as I'm getting dizzier and my neck is getting more painful.

So easy for these things to happen - I have been knocked over by Cairo once - he just shifted his weight and I went flying as he is so big - he too did nothing wrong.

Really hope you are ok and if it keeps on hurting, go and get it check out.

Horses do have hard bits to them.

me too, arnica gel. the worst one i had was when the side of a block of stables ws yanked off on my head, a lump to be proud of but the arnica was sssoooo good it had all but disappeared by the time i got to tell the story so noone believed me! take care.

Ouch, very lucky not to break something.
I have been kicked in the face. I was picking out a stallions hind leg and he lifted it up higher than I was and caught me in the face, unfortunately he was wearing road studs so it split my lip open, lots of blood and a fat lip for me, still have the scar now, 3 years on.

ouch!, ive not been hocked but ive been kneed (my own fault for being stupid and kneeling in front of his leg to adjust boot), had a lovely black eye and nose
