People still continue to surprise me! I have been looking for a while for someone to simply check my horses are ok in the morning for me, no mucking out or feeding expected in exchange for free 24/7 grazing and simple field facilities. Simple yes?!?? Well no!!! I have had no end of people who are expecting 5* livery, one even asked if there was a horse walker! Others have asked if I can exercise their horses daily for them! I don't mind scratching backs and helping out if they don't mind returning the favour. Am I being crazy as I would have loved the idea of free grazing for mind in exchange for a bit if help and wouldn't expect much part from a field to put her in and maybe storage.

lol horse people are mad!!! just depends how mad you can cope with :D :D

thats a good offer - i know in the past id have loved something like that!

People want their cake and to eat it :o
This reminds me in a way of when I once offered a double bed inc. mattress free online.

I got an email something extremely similar to -
"Hi I'd be willing to take the bed but you'd have to drop it off as I have no transport. Will have to be before 4pm as I'm going out. Do you want my address?" Erm..

Well I have tried to mention it all it the advert and stated 27/4 grass only and very basic for free in exchange for assistance in the morning but I guess people just don't read the adverts fully! Who knew that offering Free grazing would be that hard haha!

A friend has just had no end of problems with people she has had in her fields having free grazing. They didn't pooh pick and didn't come to do / check their horses so she ended up looking after them. She asked them to go and had a local man bring his daughters pony (she only has one pony so they are company for her pony). He has been a bit better but she gave him notice as her daughter is giving up. She knew that this persons pony wouldn't stay in the field on her own as she had previously jumped out so arranged to keep her pony for a bit longer despite having found her a home so the pony wouldn't be on its own. The man turned up one morning and removed pony without letting my friend know so now her pony was on its own and she had to take her to a local livery yard until she could go to her new home.

If you are offering free grazing make it clear what you expect (especially in terms of visits and pooh picking) and have a contract even though no money is changing hands.

Horses are between Geddington and Stanion, corby direction. Thank you will sort a contract out as dont want to be bitten. Your poor friend it's just not fair people do take the Micky!

Oh no how disappointing! I was hoping ( in the future) to be able to offer free stable and grazing in exchange for bringing in each day and Full livery as such on a sunday.Thought it seemed like a reasonable offer until I read this post -aargh!
