Hi, anyone been to ogmore beach? Where is the best place to park? X
Kenfig (a few miles down the coast) or Merthyr Mawr (just the other side of the estuary) would be better. You have to go through sand dunes to get to them so far fewer people. Ogmore is nearly always busy. Kenfig has an excellent, large, easy to get to but open carpark (next to a busy road) Merthyr Mawr's is more secure but more difficult to get to.

Apparently (I've not been there since I heard this and haven't checked it out) you no longer need a permit, you just pay a premium at the car park. But yes - a weekend away on Gower is amazing. Pilton Moor stables near Rhossili do Horsey B&B as do a few other places.Yes as mentioned above, watch for tides at Kenfig.
Something to be aware of, you need a permit to ride in the dunes at Ogmore & also be careful down the west end of the beach - there's a patch of quick sand which someone's horse got caught in a few years ago! Best place to park definitely behind the dunes by the toilets, although if timed right, I've parked the other side of the river in that main public car park & crossed the estuary at low tide.
Both fab places for a blast, enjoy!
Oh and if you wanted to go a little further, Llangennith & Oxwich are amazing down the Gower.
