So, last night, as I was meeting friends for dinner, unhorsey OH opted to take care of Big Bad Horsey. Contrary to what I thought he would do, he set himself the challenge of actually taking her out of the stable, turning her out, mucking her out, feeding her and watering her. I only expected to him to feed and water her after he made a big fuss about handling her, but I guess he wanted to face his demons.
By the time I met up with my friends, he went off to the stables with the recipe for Big Bad Horsey's dinner.
By the time my friends and I had reached our main course, my phone rang. It was OH. The conversation went like this:
OH: "Honey, I've got a problem!"
Me: "What!!! What happened?"
OH: "Well, I turned her out in the turnout area."
Me: "You actually took her out of her stable! Well done!"
OH: "Ehm, I didn't realise the gate on the other side of the turnout area was open!"
Me: "Oh my God, where is she?!?"
OH: "She's now in the outdoor school. But the gates there are locked now, so she won't be able to get out. Can I just leave her there whilst I muck out?"
Me: "Can't you get her to come back to the turnout area?"
OH: (Shouting softly to Big Bad Horsey) "Come Back!!" (Turns attention to phone) "No, she's not coming back! Can I just leave her there?"
Me: "No, you can't just leave her in the school until tomorrow!!!"
OH: "Not until tomorrow - but until I'm finished mucking out!"
Me: "Oh, ok. No one's gonna be using the school, right?"
OH: "No, it's quite late, you know."
Me: "Just try catching her later then."
By that time, my friends were bursting out laughing.
After desert, my phone rang again.
OH: "I'm finished."
Me: "What, mucking out? Where is she?"
OH: "She's in her stable."
Me: "You caught her? Well done!"
OH: "Well, she was getting bored, so she came back."
Me: "So she was at the gates waiting for you."
OH: "No, of course not. We met mid-way. I was really nervous, but she let me catch her. I don't think she will let me next time. She'll call my bluff."
I have to say I am very proud of unhorsey OH. Not only did he manage to do all the horsey stuff, but provided us girls with decent entertainment, too.
