I have just found out my friend (who's horses I sometimes do and ride) is selling them both

One that I mainly ride (the coloured) I've fallen a bit in love with :( but I've looked at my finances and I can't afford the £100 stabling plus other expenses now that my old Dizzy-bo has cushings and clearly he is my priority but......

Darn darn darn

(not sure why I wrote this thread except to vent off my guttedness, as OH doesn't understand) :)

Does the coloured one have to be stabled??

No he's already out 24/7, but I would have to keep him where he was as I can't have another in my field (farmer wont let me) and where the coloured is, it's just around the corner so time wise doable. But the guy charges £25 pw per horse regardless of stable :/ - and theres really nowhere else

Yeah I suppose I could, but I'd have to sort finances out first and then look for sharer, and a) after I've just paid a £500 vet bill, with another £200 to pay on my fridge it's not really feasible and b) I've just been informed she's got people viewing tomorrow :(

It's really sad as it'll be his 5th home in the 4 years if his little life :(

Find a way. I couldn't afford beetle but I struggled and fought for first couple months, under priced and sold spare one, still struggled then got surprise pay rise which made it manageable finally but i'm so glad I fought and went without so I could have him. Find a way. Could you not change the management of your current field to allow for another?

Offer farmer a little more rent or explain how much it means to you. Or can you manage to scrape financially where he is till spring and look for a bigger field?

No way she would consider loaning him with an agreement to buy?? Such a shame to lose a nice horse.

This! If she's a good friend and wants the best for her boy and knows he would be going to a good home with you she may do it. At least it would maybe give you time to save. Sorry if you've already said but how much is she asking for him?
