Oh Dear... Dreadfull Times Ahead

It sounds just like Holmfirth market. No officials there either, sick animals, horses fighting in the pens and yep, almost all being sold by travellers (didn't know Roma gypsies had red hair and Irish accents!). I would agree with others though, the dead ones are the lucky ones.

Sickening isnt it. Now the hill farmers are making decent money on lamb the difference in welfare standards at Brecon compared to the equine sales is unbelieveable. Talk about double standards. Decent pen space, deep straw, water, respect.... doesnt really cost that much does it?

Lucky have none of these places in Suffolk.

This sounds horrendous, I think maybe an email to trading standards is needed.

Also I imagine this may well be something for a programme like panorama.

S'teamed - Where there any horse transporters at Brecon? I'm thinking of going on the 5th November to get a couple of little ponies but I dont have transport.

I know people will say dont put money into bad breeders pockets etc, but I need a companion pony and would rather try and rescue. Its lose-lose situation tbh.

Poor ponies, I honestly despair at the RSPCA nowadays, I got reported because I left a friends (ex-laminatic) shetland out with a muzzle and no rug on. The muzzle was on during the day, at night he was stable, and as for the rug. Worse than that, the RSPCA said that if they get another call then I will have to go to a meeting about managing horses etc. Its bullshit quite frankly. They should make a real difference, not try and find fault where there is none.

Perhaps the increase in the price of sheep will stop them from breeding so many.
I would gladly give money to a group that would campain to stop overbreeding but not to a horse sanctury or someone who wants to save them from slaughter.
