Oh Dear! French passport

I hope this wont get pulled....
I enquired about a horse for sale- a heavy large type, and the seller states it has a French passport.

Should I assume the worst? ie imported for meat and "rescued"
It hasn't done anything in years from the sounds of it, and seller admits it has had a couple of owners before her, not recorded.
I'm wary, but weight carrier types are so hard to come by up here in Scotland.

I would be more worried that it has not done anything for years and whether it will be sound enough to stand up to proper work now than if it was a meat horse that was rescued, plenty of the heavy types are bred for meat it does not mean they were unsound at that time. A thorough vetting to make sure all is well if you like it when you try it.

My friends Breton has a French passport...she is an excellent horse

I had an ex racer with a French passport, as he'd been bred in France.

Could be totally legit, could not. I wouldn't base assumptions on where he was born though
