Had to get TB herbal chaff yesterday as Dengie have stopped doing their Meadow Grass until they catch up with everything. I stopped buying TB after reading about the appalling behaviour of the man who runs the company. Hope Dengie aren't too long in brining back Meadow Grass.

I've just bought emerald green grasstastic as an alternative. It's the same grass (fescue) but doesn't have the added oil and herbs. It's much cheaper too £7.95 compared to £12.25 Will see if Mr fussy tb likes it. I also use the Agrobs grunhafer and musli but the grass chaff stretches it a bit and he's better with variety than one thing.

I couldn’t get my Dengie Healthy Tummy either. I’m looking for an alternative (NOT TB!) if anyone has any ideas?

Looking at the ingredients, alfalfa chop and pellets with vitamins and protexin.

Buy another chop and add the supplements yourself possibly. I generally prefer to do this as it means horse gets the same level regardless of how much feed I give.

I used the Honeychop Lite and Healthy for a bit (timothy grass, oat straw, herbs and cinnamon) and they were happy on it, but am now back on Agrobs muesli to tempt the oldie a bit more. I've also used and like the other Agrobs chaffs - if you can get hold of them they're a good TB alternative. They're just a bit pricey.

Thanks. Its getting hold of Agrobs that is difficult. I think I will have a look at Emerald Green Grasstastic when I need another bag. Has anyone used Baileys Ultra grass I think its called?

@criso did it pass the taste test?

I’ve just read Dengie meadow grass is alfalfa based nutrition on their website. Is that true? Trying to avoid Alfalfa.

My mares always been on TB Healthy Herbal but she isn’t really keen on it and after reading everything, I rather change brands.

I’ve just bought some Emerald Green meadow nuts for delivery. Didn’t realise they didn’t chaff to!

Doesn’t look like Meadow Grass is in stock at my feed merchant or the Emerald. Is there any other brands (not Emerald) that do a similar type of chaff?

@meleeka I think I read healthy tummy isn’t great (on a Barefoot page) but sure if that’s true.

The grasstastic usually goes down a treat, but the Emerald Green meadow magic nuts are a different story. Really dusty, strange colour. Horses weren't so keen on it-- but maybe because of it's low sugar super healthy specs. Not an isolated case. Hopefully you have better luck there. Simple Systems blue bag grass pellets (unfortunately slightly more sugar) are preferred by our lot.

Dengie meadow grass with herbs is not alfalfa based

Ingredients

Chopped grass, grass pellets, rapeseed oil, herbs (liquorice root, ground fennel, chamomile, aniseed and mint).

It's very palatable however I feed emerald green Grasstastic which Mr fussy also likes as it's cheaper though both were mixed in with agrobs musli.

Dengie also do pure grass which only contains chopped grass but I've not tried it.
