ok - just schooled taz...
arrghh we had 2 huge rears and few mini ones because he was "scared" of the green sign in the school (it has been there for 6 weeks, no prob till today)and refused to go over to that part of school - prtotested, he reared (hes only ever reared with me once b4 in 3 years). i calmely asked him to go on, no response, TOLD him to, rear again. eventually got him over there and walked up and down a million times.
So full of beans i schooled him for about an hour and half, v spookey in direction of sign but otherwise quite good. still got plently of energy at end.
(turnout stopped last week which is prob part of the problem).
Got him back in, took bridle off, noticed blood on it SH*t! looked at bit - some of the flexi plastic part had come off metal and was all jagged (only had bit 3 weeks!!) and had cut him right on the inside of his mouth - so this was the main part of the rearing prob i think? needless to say im sending his bit back!!! just annoyed at myself for some reason, i didnt really tell him off 4 rearing as it was so unlike him but just feel frustrated at myself , i think 4 not getting off and checking his mouth mayb anyway arrrghhh!!

im not sure if i can do anything to help his mouth heal either? bcos the cut/sore is right on the inside of his mouth/lip, i sponged his mouth but left it at that.. any ideas?or best left alone to heal? btw i bought the bit off an ebay shop(brand new bit tho)..

Best option for cut mouths is to syringe salt water into them. Mouths tend to heal very fast though as the saliva itself ensures everything stays clean.

Make sure its fully healed before you try and put a bit back in though

Oh maybe you will have a bit of a fight on your hands. IMO things are not as easy to give back to ebay people as they are to the saddlers. Could you find out who the manufacturers are, and go that way about it??? Ide be really damn cross if that happened to my horse.

ok will try the salt water trick..
i dont have a hackamore and as he isnt getting turned out i think i will have to opt for some lunging in a cavesson and long walks in hand till his mouth heals.... grrrr

i have emailed the ebay shop, to tell them what happened and that im not happy, and ideally want a replacement. i will see what they say if i have to take it up with the manufacturers then i will. thnks for your replies
