Oh dear, I think I may of made a BIG mistake.....

I have turned the yellow beastie out rugless today. Yep, it was a moment of madness as I was so busy thinking how lovely it was in the sun that I forgot that he is actually a hippo in horse clothing

Anyone else made this mistake this morning?
Anyone got any good mud busting tips?

Mines been naked in the field since Saturday. I've been using a plastic curry comb on her, and I've been sneezing mud ever since...

ETA I watched her roll yesterday and really scrub her face in to the mud... then left my mum to bring her in

Mine will be naked within the hour but just couldn't turn her out naked at 7am, it was frozen and thick fog. She will have a lovely day basking in the sunshine, and it will do her unborn foal lots of goodness too!

Aha! I can give an answer to this one. For the legs, give them a spray with Canter Mane and Tail Conditioner before you turn out. The mud will brush off very easily once dry. Same for the body, but take care to avoid saddle area, or you'll have that lovely 'greased drainpipe' effect!

my veteran is terrible for rolling, he even manages to get mud in his ears and on his eyelashes, and last night his forelock was stuck up like a mud caked mohican, i think he must do headstands...

Hopefully it will be nice and dry by the time you come to bring him in. Mine rolled about 30 mins before fetching her in on saturday night, so was covered in wet mud. I'm afraid I just put her stable rug over the top of most of it and left it till the morning

Mine have also been out naked since saturday - 2 are not in work at the moment so that doesn't matter but have some serious scrubbing to do on my big one! must feel so much better to them though, I love to see them out without rugs on
