I've worked 38 days on the trot now without a single day off !! Cream crackered ! Me and my amazing OH of 2 years who before I met him was afraid of dogs never mind horses (20 stone rugby playing wimp) Went into Manchester for a rare night out with friends and got home at 2 am - I had forgotten this time existed.

Saturday morning comes and can I get out of bed for work NO !

So my amazing fella says he'll go and put Lina in the field ! great I think and dash to work without a second thought - sat in work for 8 hours aimlesly staring at the rain and wind, clock watching til 5

When I get the farm I armour up with all the layers I can find in my boot and tramp up the field as I got closer I thought "thats odd where is her neck cover" closer to her still "SHES STILL GOT HER STABLE RUG ON !!!!"

poor princess was most unimpressed ! no harm done but knowing the difference between and T/O and a stable rug is one of those things that we just take for granted like hanging a bridle on a hook, but thats a totally different story ......

ahhh at least he tried! My husband would probably do the same if not worse, not that he would ever offer in a million years!!!!

Oh bless, and you have to be so careful to approach the subject when he was nice enough to do it in the first place haha

The chap who rents the other half of our yard offered to put mine out this morning. How excited was I?! I'm still sat here in my PJ's having scoffed a cooked brekkie and downed lots of coffee... bliss. Although I have to admit... I did text him to check they behaved...

Yep she was just fine she's not been clipped out this year so it was no bother really , one day of rain wouldn't hurt ! was pleased to get a night in I think.

I called him from the farm asking if he had got wet watching the rugby ? his reply was nah I had my waterproof coat on - not your PJ's then no lol OOOPPPS

He is really good a following instructions - so TBH it's my fault for not providing a step buy step guide ! Bless him he has just dropped said rug off at the cleaners !

I use to write step by step guide for my OH for hoursework. Initially I use to write 'do the pots', but then he would only wash a bowl full, leave any extra pots on the side, and leave those he did wash on the draining board. I then elaborated further, 'do the pots' i.e. wash ALL pots, dry ALL pots, and put ALL pots away. I one day caught him washing up using just plain cold water with no washing up liquid. I had to elaborate even further... 'do the pots' i.e. put a squirt of washing up liquid in the bowl, use hot clean water, wash ALL pots, dry ALL pots, and put ALL pots away.

On another note, my friend Sally has the stable next to Sammi's. She went away so her Dad was looking after Tom (TB scared of EVERYTHING) for her. I brought Sammi in from the field really excited to put his new Rhino combo PJ's on - I love that rug, had to save up for ages for it. Went to the rails and my rug was gone!!

Looked through the bars and poor Tom was wearing it! He had never worn a combo before (as he is such a puff - something on his neck is far too scarey) and he was stood in the middle of his stable daring not to move - eyes bulging - Sally's Dad had put my rug on him lol! I retrieved my rug, but more importantly, I rescued Tom and put his PJ's on much to his relief! lol xx

My OH has been up to the yard twice now (forced), He wont go anywhere near the horses. The only comment he's made is 'they're big aren't they'.. the biggest horse on the yard is m 15.2 sec D

Needles to say he wont be helping out anytime soon..

my poor unhorsey other half had to come and pick my mare up once from a lesson after I had a mishap and needed a little trip to hospital!!! luckily some one rugged and booted and loaded her for him and off they went!!!! he has never towed the horse box before. When he got home he unclipped her rope opened the field gate, opened the ramp, let mare out into field, shut gate and was very pleased with himself, please note it was middle of winter, snowing and mare had her travelling rug(although nice and warm) travel boots and headcollar still on lol, fortunately she was only out for a few hours before daughter returned from college, twigged immediately about the mares state of undress from her very proud fathers discription of what he had managed to do all by himself

Poor Princess - out in the field in her nightie!

My OH looked after mine the other day, they behaved very badly indeed. At one point they were all loose, the stables looked like a herd of buffalo had been through them!

Thankfully my Dad AND my OH are horsey!!

I can trust OH to do the horses, as can I, Dad. Makes life that bit easier if I need help!

when i loaned my 15.2hh tb x a few years back my oh was brilliant at making her a lovely thick warm bed and getting the muck heap tidy. excellent considering that til he met me he had never been near a horse in his life! he knows that i'll never change!

Indeed it was.
I turn OH's horses out twice a week and still get full instructions on which rugs, boots etc to put on them.
