Dad came to ride Scooby this evening - I warmed him up and had a little jump first to show off (

), and then Dad had a go. He was doing really well - walk, trot and canter all sorted (my instructor said he was a better rider than me!

) so I asked him if he wanted to have a go at a jump. He said he might wait until next time, but I said "nooooo, you're doing really well, go on!". He did the jump alright, but the saddle was slipping as he did it and almost as soon as Scooby hit the floor... so did my Dad.

He lay still for a while because he was winded, then eventually got up and limped over to a chair. He felt a bit queasy and wobbly, so he sat for a little while before going home. I came home about half an hour later, after cooling Scoobs off and putting him to bed (he, by the way, was very good - he stood stock still next to Dad the whole time he was on the floor), my parents were gone and my sister told me mum had taken dad to A+E because he could hardly walk.

So now I am feeling rather guilty for egging him on to jump, and hoping greatly that he is okay. Especially as he had spinal fusion surgery in February after a lifetime of back problems - I really hope I haven't made them any worse!
