Got home from work today to discover Freddie had removed the top from the Bird Food Bin and eaten 1.5 suet blocks containing dried insects and mealworms!! Seems fine, drinking normally, has done a 'normal' poo since and is fine in himself so hopefully there won't be any ill affects! I did give him a very meagre supper though in light of his extra snacking :-)

Anyone had any experience with a dog eating suet based stuff????

No personal experience, but instinct suggests..... well.... oh dear :o

I would think it will have quite a dramatic effect on his digestion by tomorrow morning.... you have been warned :D

Yup Gazey - am not sure whether to expect squitting through the eye of a needle or hyperactivity due to the excessive protein!

I guess time will tell...

I am keeping an eye on him - no 'odd' digestive noise, still seems happy, drinking normally and watched the entire England game on the tv (he's totally tv obsessed) - if he stopped watching the tv I'd be worried!!!

Yeouw - biley puke, even the thought of that is making me gag!!! Looks like me and the OH are in for a fun night!! What a shame I have also done my back in today so am not very mobile - guess that's OH on the night shift then :-)

I don't know whether to be pleased that he sleeps in the bedroom (in his own bed) so that if he does start puking or needing to go out we'll hear him, or slightly worried that he'll start puking and squitting all over the bedroom floor!!! Thankfully its wood so I guess it will clean up fairly easily but even so...

Oh well, c'est la vie as they say...

So I am all agog to know what happened Taffyhorse - perhaps it would be sufficient to say whether there were regretable consequences or not mind you, dont think we need full details :D

Well despite preparing ourselves for the worst, there were no consequences!!! Not even one squitty poo - or biley puke, thank god!!!

In fact, you'd never know he'd eaten it by all accounts - tucked into his brekkie as normal yesterday morning, went for a long walk, showed great interest in the pigs ears and various other treats in the Kennel shop which we popped into on the way home and passed out on the sofa :-)

So bit of an anticlimax really - not that i'm complaining!
