Oh dear....

Agreed, although he never hurdled only steeplechased and ptp and you wouldn't fancy brushing through many of those I wouldn't think

He is a good boy bless 'im and as everyone says it doesn't matter what you look like as long as you get over them but jeebus, shamefull or what! He's such a stunner on the flat and xc looks just super but as soon as the poles are up he turns back into the demented llama. I'll send pics of him doing the fallsbury (sp?) flop over some 5' fences asap! ;)

Oh sorry, didn't read right - no, you wouldn't want to brush a steepchase fence! Anyway, you get the picture. ;)

Stand next to a fence during a race and tell me they don't learn to brush through them!!!

OP your horse is gorgeous, i'll have him. When can I collect? I'll bring a trolley full of B&J's!!!! He's learning that school fences are not as forgiving as birch, and trying hard to get up and over cleanly. He shows a lovely elastic shape, and as he can't see pictures of himself he can't see what a goon he looks! Pm me his racing name, i'd love to take a look in the bibles and see how he fared for you.
Best of luck, I do think he looks a lovely lad. Space here for his type any day ;)

I will offer five of my amazing sterling pounds, and I will hand bake you a Blackforrest gateau and any truffles of your choice.

I think you will find this offer pleasing.

5 pounds?? Wow, some people have more money than sense  *speaks loudly and clearly* "THIS HORSEY WILL NOT LIVE IN YOUR GARDEN, HE IS FOR GOING FAST ON" I'll take your gateau and truffles though? ;)

Steeplechased, and PTP....no wonder he does that giraffe thing! VERY clever boy, he is going forwards with every inch of him, to be the fastest OVER not the most lovely shape. He knows how to clear 'em certainly, and I wouldn't put Puissance past him.

I'd get him to do bounces too, and work on canter collection :-) Lovely lad.

I will offer £11.50, and two of Sainsburys finest doughnuts.

*faints* He is definately going to win that race of one!

Hahaha, goon....! His name is Shanghai Noon, (or goon) and he won once and was placed once but because it was in Ireland ptp I haven't been able to see reports or even how many horses he raced against (I suspect a small number). I'd love to contact his owner to raced him and see if they have any pics, I bet he looked awesome over a birch fence!

Oh I could show you some photos of my horse's form over jumps that would make ya laugh (she raced over hurdles just once but the experience obviously stuck with her) she is getting a bit more graceful about it, the main thing about her is that she loves it!

Ever the photo-tart-here are a couple!

Could I ask a potentially very stupid question? (I try to ask stupid questions rather than giving stupid answers on subjects I know little about :) )

I've seen lots of shots of young warmbloods etc being free jumped and many of them seem to do this – noses super low. Is this just greenness or could it be a better balance for the horse (if unorthodox for the rider)?

Oh, and I'm a sucker for a gawky horse that goes by the name of Goon. I'll throw in some stollen and ten euros. Obviously he'll have a great home with someone who asks questions like the above. I'll aim him for the 2010 Olympics. :p
