Oh everyone's a bloody expert!

This person comments on everyone's 'lack of skills' then slates them behind their backs to me! So obviously its gonna happen to me. I hate all this livery politics - I get enough of it at work.

Ignorance is bliss and the ipod is a great idea haha!

I used to be able to ignore them but at teh last yard there was a really bad and persistant one. In the end when she was telling me what to feed my horse I turned round and asked her what qualifications she had in equine nutrition

I im having this prob at the moment.

My best friends horse has incredibly flat feet and he was overdue to be shod and being a wimpy tb was a bit footsore.

So called experts on the phone to my friend saying horsey was crippled had dropped heels, navicular, his pedal bone was moving etc etc...

She was in a state of panic rings me as i was there earlier and didnt notice anything horrendous apart from long feet. Got asked to go up and have a look to see what i thought.

Got up there to find a crowd of people around his stable adding there 2 penny worth about what should be done etc...
I took one look and advised to get the farrier to be met with "oooo i wouldnt get the farrier i would get the vet he looks like this and that....."

Anyway to cut a long story short farrier came reshod and horse sound.....

This was last week and i still havent calmed down over it

I have that all the time, by people that think they know my horses better than I do. I have had them contribute to looseing sharers, by dribbling in the poison. & make me doubt myself. Nice people Not...but for some reason they are absolutly fasinated by everything I do & want to know every little detail of my life

I tend to ignore and carry on regardless, andy conversation is very generalised and there is nothing in there that will lead to further things.

Because the horse world is VERY opinionated, possibly THE most opinionated sport there is! Everybody has their own ways of looking after / dealing with horses which they do feel is the best. I dont have anybody telling me what to do with my horses and if they did Id probably ignore them anyway if I didnt respect them!

that sounds familiar...

We have one livery who is forever giving people advice and slating their horse care choices behind their backs... My favourite quote from her is when I saw her pulling her horse's mane. Now her horse is a lovely quiet natured mare and was dozing while she did it so I politely said to her
"isn't your horse well behaved about having her mane pulled". Totally pleasant and innocuous comment I thought but was met by the scathing rejoiner of...
"Well, I wouldn't allow her to behave anyother way".

This when she knew full well that my own horse has to be twitched to have her mane pulled.

GRRRRRRRRRRRR

haha yes I have had that said to me too! Goodness me -I think the problem with people saying 'I wouldn't have it any other way' is that they leave themselves open to a fall - I will be watching closely!

Hehe. I love this. I thought I was alone feeling peed off when folk criticised my very laid back OH's attempts to back his soft as mud Shire stallion. "He should do this..he should do that..." GRRR!!!
Needless to say the Shire is going beautifully -( no-one has told him he has his nuts so shhh!) and my OH has done a fantastic job with him.
The person who was dishing out all the "advice" tried to break an anglo arab - daren't even GET on her. Made a million excuses as to why she couldn't do it, despite her having all this VAST experience to share with my OH.
....then I spoke to the mare's previous owner who told me that she had already been backed and ridden. I peed myself laughing. So don't sweat it. Nod, smile and wait for the comeuppance!
