Loosing the will to live here! A 'friend' of mine has just posted on FB ''does anyone have a alsation to put over my bitch''
crazy.gif
I don't know how to tackle this really, the bitch is unscored, unregistered as has a hernia that has not been operated on, also not breeding quality.
confused.gif
They also are not set up for a litter of gsds in their house. Thing is I don't think there is ANYTHING in the world I can say or do that will stop them breeding from her. I've tried before when they wanted to breed from there little x breed jrt and asked to use my parson stud dog. Whilst I do let him over working terrier bitches and not just pedigree parsons, I only let him over bitches actually in work owned by responsible breeders that have waiting lists for the pups. Neither them or the bitch met any of my criteria and I wouldn't allow him to use my dog. I did explain lengthily to them why this was. To my horror I later heard they had used another jrt dog that still had its nuts locally. SO obviously didnt listen

They have had several litters from that bitch to date.
I feel like going outside and banging my head against a brick wall!

Just hope they dont find someone daft enough to let them use their dog, I'm guessing a gsd stud would be harder to come by than a jrt?

Show her this?

http://www.germanshepherdrescue.co.uk/german-shepherd-dogs.html

Or both of Cayla's threads today, some lovely Shepherds on there.

Don't assume, some plank with a dog with a set of reproductive organs will be happy to take the cash.

If they love or claim to care about the breed, they will not go ahead with this.

We are banging our heads against a wall brick wall as a breed fraternity, trying to improve the breed and undo the damage done by indiscriminate breeding like this - and this kind of thing will only reverse every good thing we are trying to do.

Please feel free to show them this post, by a person who has been involved with the breed my whole life.

We are trying to fight hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, haemophelia, epilepsy, pancreatis, skin conditions, juveline renal dysplasia etc etc etc.

Anyone who breeds from GSDs which do not have acceptable hip and elbow scores, no eye tests, haem test for sires, animals which are not chipped/tattooed or DNA'd and are not of sound mind or body does not deserve to breed.

oh dear...
i have 2 dogs, one is a labrador.. with we are not so sure what, an accident. he has epilepsy, the vet thinks most likely caused by bad breeding... it is horrible to see him having fits, it scares me and all i can do is hold him... it is horrible to think that if the owners had been careful with their bitch he wouldn't have turned out like this..
our other lab (pure bred) has an inherited skin allergy caused by breeding with cousins etc. etc. and as lovely as she is, perfect tempermant, her skin drives her mad, we are trying to sort it but there is no cause... having said that, she was not bred irresponsibly, both dogs hip scored etc. but obviously somewhere along the lines, they were crossed causing this skin allergy to be passed onto her.
dogs should not have to live a life like that just because of careless breeding.
thankfully neither dogs are affected greatly and lead a normal life other than this, but even so... it is makes me sick to think that they are like that because of stupid humans

I know I know I know CC! I have tried and will be going down there tomorrow and trying again armed with much material to help my cause. Unfortunately I don't think I stand a cat in hells chance of getting through to them
frown.gif
They will be thinking of the cash I know for a fact, and people unfortunately don't all think like we do or care as much for their animals as we do (although they profess to). Caylas rescue thread below is testiment to that sad fact

errrrr yes slinks! of course there is the arguement that if all dogs had been homed responsibly by their intial breeders then morons wouldnt be breeding from them now. Breeders should be tougher at throwing blatent prats back out the door when viewing puppies! its a vicious circle isn't it
frown.gif
These people are no more likely to insure good homes to their puppies than the people who let them have their puppies and so the cycle goes on. maddening

Pass that desk
frown.gif
As CC says they will sadly probably have no trouble finding another idiot with an "alsation" male they can use. Perhaps you could point out to them for starters that if they can't even get the name of the breed right they aren't exaclty experts
crazy.gif
Any chance you could tell them that the KC have a real hate on GSDs at the moment (true) and puppy sales are going to be really badly hit

From another forum.

GERMAN SHEPHERD REGISTRATIONS WITH THE KC SINCE 1999.....

1999.....17,905
2000....17,852
2001.....14,270
2002.....14,177
2003.....14,892
2004.....13,578
2005.....13,165
2006.....12,857
2007.....12,116
2008.....11,903
2009..... up to early December....8,971

To be honest this is a crap time of year to breed, if you want to make money, which is obviously the motivation here

And let me guess, the poor bitch is bred from every season?

Pass that desk when you are done MM. I'll take it round and bash THIER heads on it until some much needed sense is knocked in!

Hang on I was being kind with my interpretation of their post copied and pasted here it is....
''anyone got an alsation dog I can put tomy bitch please''
crazy.gif

That MM is a good idea though! I'm going to have to do something a bit more clever than preach about BYBing I think.
frown.gif
I may have to incorporate that into my plan!

Until recently when they missed one yes she is well over her quota of litters...not that she should have had ANY in the first place IMO.

I recommend a midnight spaying mission

We're actually proposing at that no club member with us can retain their membership if, when breeding, they do not adhere to all the breeding specifications mentioned above.
I think anyone with the best interests of the breed at heart will not have a problem with that!

Haha! I wonder if they need me to look after her while they go away somewhere!?!!!
tongue.gif
She could have some kind of accident whilst staying at my house that ment the vet had to spay her?!!!!
tongue.gif
grin.gif
mwhahaha!!!

But the trouble is CC that most of the numpties like the above wouldn't even know what a breed club was
frown.gif

Good idea though and imagine it will be strictly policed if your lot do bring it in. It always used to annoy me that there were breeders I knew who had signed the Breed Council Code of Ethics but actually totally disregarded it.

Oh, I realise that MM, just trying to point out that some of us are still trying
tongue.gif

I know there is at least one person I wouldn't trust as far as I could throw, in terms of adhering to it, so we shall see!

If you can't educate the breeder, try and educate potential puppy buyers so that they can't sell their puppies. You maybe don't live in the same area but write to your local paper, talk to people you meet out walking your dogs etc. Use your Facebook to talk about badly bred Alsatians!

I'm not sure but is there no risk for that the hernia might break as a potential litter grows inside her? Probably no point in trying to tell them about the other risks involved in breeding, after all why should their GSD have any problem when their JRT haven't had any...
