Just another post, was I the only one to get fed up of those morons waving at the camera behind the bank? It must be distracting.
And that bloody yapping dog by the fence with the water under it, why do people allow their dog to bark at every single horse?
Enthralling afternoon's Sj though, the later horses appeared to be jumping under a massive disadvantage of deep going, so well done to GB for proving it could still be done.
Shame they can't sort that bank out by making it longer and changing over to the other half after the going gets to a certain limit, it would at least mean later horses weren't expected to slide down sheer mud.. Perhaps adjust the time accordingly ?
Andy Mizon rode really well, nice to see a young rider riding with tact and ability. Hope good things come his way soon. That dog p*ssed me off too, you would think the owner would have moved it away.

Well, not leading now, but I am not upset to see Geoff do well, and I doubt Andy is going to be too upset about being placed in his first Derby! We are still celebrating here!

Well what an amazing Derby that turned out to be! Have to say that although I was willing Andy to win, I am very happy that Geoff had such an amazing round, and that he was so ecstatic to have won.
Congratulations to both of them...Freshman you must be so very proud
Wow, what a day ! What a week. Andy went down to Hickstead on Tuesday & unfortunately his Grandma (my mum) died very suddenly on Wednesday morning. He was very close to his Gran as are both my lads. My OH flew to Gatwick on Thursday after work & broke the news. (didnt want to tell him whilst he was on his own) He was very nearly coming home on Friday. Then he decided that his Gran was so looking forward to watching him on the telly. He decided to stay.
I thank God that under the circumstances, with the ground & the weather so bad he kept his concentration. Wow wasnt Gerry amazing
He even managed to put in a few bucks. That is not an easy horse to ride & apart from it coming off the bank 2ft too early, which left him a long way off the rails he absolutely ate it. He is such a brave horse & thoroughly enjoyed himself. Thank you all for your congratulations. I am really very touched. Guess what they are not coming home tonight. THEY ARE HAVING A PARTY

Gosh, that's given me shivers up my spine reading what an emotional week your family has had, but with the most amazing happy ending. I'm so happy for you all.
Sorry to hear about your Mum...and I agree with Pups, that was rather an emotional read.
Will he go back for another go next year? His horse looked like he really wasn't phased by any of it
More tears I am afraid, Andy did the right thing, I am sure his Gran is so incredibly proud, and having a Guardian Angel on your shoulder in those conditions is a wonderful thought.
Can imagine he and Geoff are going to have VERY sore heads in the morning
And you are right, we mustn't forget about Gerry (not Jerry, as I said before, do excuse me, I was rather emotional), LOVE that horse!
I noticed John Whitaker wearing a Renault F1 team jacket when he was interviewed before the Derby.
I'd just changed channels from watching the French F1 Grand Prix and thought I'd accidentally pressed the wrong button on my remote control and was still watching ITV.
I am almost lost for words, which is extremely unusual! Andy's second was amazing, exciting and emotional enough without knowing about your bereavement. You must be so emotional; I am so happy for you yet sad too. Huge hugs and enormous slaps on the back all round! And how interesting to have Geoff Billington as a dental patient - do you need a trainee nurse...?
I'm sorry to hear about your mother - what an emotional week for you. You must all be so proud and rightly so, it was a fantastic round and Andy was so gracious in defeat as well.
A day of real mixed emotions I'm sure. So very well tried Andy - an unbelievable round and every bit as as good as the old pro who won it. I'm pleased for Geoff as he's waited a long time for this and you have all your life ahead of you to bag this one. I'm sure your day won't be too far ahead. Many congratulations on a superb ride.
Well done to Andy, Gerry and all your team, a really super round and a great result. We were all cheering for him here, you must be so proud. Sorry to hear about your Mum, my condolences.
I think Andy's round was absolutely fantastic !! Freshman ~ you must be sooooooo proud !!!
I am pleased Geoff won as he is approaching the end of his career. Andy is very young and I have NO DOUBT he will win the Derby in years to come and not only once either !!! What a fab tidy rider !
It was truely magical to watch him ride! What a future that lad has!!! A MASSIVE WELL DONE to him, FM and the team! Also GB - it could not have been won by a more deserving rider!
