Actually, I was also thinking today - Damn you HH, I have been thinking about you and Henry a lot today!! - that once on the Gundog and Birdog Forum someone made an excellent post about curing this problem by taking a whole cooked chicken with them and literally threw loads of it around him so that the dog had an absolute feast everytime it came back. It was a few years ago now and I can't find the post
But it worked infact I don't think the dog hardly ever left his side
