Oh god, it's happening. I'm getting drawn to Matchy Matchy...

I swore it would never happen to me. I've resolutely stuck to brown tack, and accessories in brown, black or white. I've eschewed the brightly coloured saddlecloths/bandages as a passing trend along with patent tack.

But then...instructor suggests I look at getting boots or bandages for my horse, now that we're progressing in our flatwork to sideways/lengthened stuff. Boots?! He's a fat 15hh cob! He has built in protection, of the fat, hairy tree trunk variety! But OK, instructor says I should.

So I casually check out the LeMieux website...sports boots...bandages...no bright garish colours, nice muted tasteful numbers. Don't want black as he's black and white, don't want white as legs are white and will look yellow with white boots...ooooh Graphite Grey! Perfect! Tasteful, stylish...and...oooh look they do a matching saddlepad...maybe I should get that too. OH GOD IT'S HAPPENING! Is this how it starts...? Will I be able to stop at Graphite Grey, or will the call of Azure, Cerise and Burnt Orange prove too much? How long until my horse's wardobe is more extensive than mine?!

I had this problem last night ..... matchy matchy won and I ordered a LeMieux dressage pad and matching bandages this morning :-) Went for the dark burgundy!! Can't wait for them to arrive. Embrace it and enjoy OP :-)

Definitely won't be going for diamante! Or maybe just a bit of a sparkly browband...NOOOO

Having scoffed at matchy bright colours for so long, I now find myself thinking acid green/bright orange would 'pop' nicely on my black and white cob. What?! It's not eyeshadow for god's sake, what's happening....!

Step Away Now. Once you get onto to the matchy matchy slippery slope you are doomed. Doomed I say. I vowed NEVER to follow the (dead) sheep brigade but find myself the owner of a bling browband and now a bright blue saddle mat for dressage no less. All in the space of less than 3 weeks.

I don't do bandages thank goodness so not matchy matchy as such but still feel very worried about my future.

I have the le mieux boots in grey and they are lovely. Not really matchy, but grey goes with everything. My saddle cloth collection however seems to be getting larger and larger. Started off with black and navy and now there are a selection of blues, purple, orange, yellow, PINK and more! Still managing to stay away from the sparkle though

Join the dark side! I was never a matchy-matchy person until my pony's legs got rubbed by his boots and I decided to bandage instead to avoid the rubs. From then it was just a short step to matching saddle cloths.... and now I have quite a large amount of matchy sets and a sparkly browband. I have resisted the dead sheep for a while now because I never needed any- but just the other week I added a dead sheep girth cover as my pony's girth was rubbing his clipped skin.... Now we have truly joined!
ETA I have just got a Lemieux matchy saddle pad and bandages in plum and I love it- the saddle pad is very high quality, it fits the saddle properly, it has d-ring attachments which are much better, is cut away round the withers and has reinforcement round the girth straps- plus the bandages are lovely and soft. Plus it is a beautiful colour. So go for it!

Oooh, lots of colours you can have on a black and white cob. Mine has a much bigger wardrobe than me!

And definitely a pearly/blingy browband too :-)

I know! Basically any colour will go well! Even more danger...

The only colour I'm not sure about on mine is brown. There is a lovely Eskadron chocolate brown velvety saddle cloth with bling(!) but I just don't think it'll suit him. However......if my 18 month old palomino has a massive growth spurt it might suit her in a few years!

It is definitely a slippery slope. I used to be very much a traditionalist too, but have gradually started getting a few items and now they seem to be multiplying. :o
Matchy matchy and bling is also creeping into my non horse life - I was sorely tempted by this cushion yesterday:

I always vowed I would never have anything with diamonte or 'matchy matchy' (I only do dressage under sufferance because I want to ODE!) I have now two diamonte browbands and looking out for another and seriously considering the Le Mieux plum dressage saddle cloth and bandages and the Le Mieux dressage pads with diamonte trim!!

HELP!!!!!

You are doomed. Especially as you have found Le Mieux - I swear my dead sheep saddle pads are breeding (it can't possibly be me buying more!).
If they ever produce the dead sheep pads in the nice colours my poor horse will disown me!

I looooooooooove Le Mieux, they fit saddles so well and wash amazingly!

Another fan of the dead sheeps, particularly the half-lined Merino saddle cloths. I'm often tempted to use mine as a pillow :p.

Ooooh I love matchy matchy + bling but as OH is horsey I can't get away with it!!! Our nags are kitted out in ancient rugs ( admittedly good quality +hard wearing but a bit boring!!!)
