Just had a call on my mobile from a guy saying he had seen my website and was I still looking for donations?... bit odd terminology but I asked if he meant GHE and he said yes that he could send me some money every now and again to help out. He said he had 2 driving ponies and lived in the NF but that they were quite nappy, had I ever experienced problems with that? rambled on a bit then said 'ok shall I jot down an address then?...

The whole thing seems a bit odd so I said the address was v complicated could he drop me an email using the email address on the site and I would get back to him.

Now part of me would like to believe this is a benevolant well meaning if a little dotty person, BUT equally I feel a little freaked out and won't be giving out my address to anyone!!

No email from him yet, if/when I get one how should I reply?...

Argh what an odd afternoon!!!

You did the right thing, have you googled his phone no.? There was a post the other day about someone a bit odd/dodgy maybe its the same guy.

Hmmm does sound a bit dodgy to me. I suppose thats the dangers of blogging sometimes
Hopefully he'll give up and go away!

Could be a scam trying to get your bank details as sarah_jane says. Or maybe you have a stalker ..... hopefully not though!!

what about saying the standard way that your sponsors support you is by making a donation to you paypal account or something along those lines, and come out with some jargon about you cant accept money sent to your house. or ask for the thing where they send it to your local post office and you have to go and sign for it that way he doesnt need your address but your local post office and just needs your name???????

Chloe, I have a contact page on my website that simply says
"To contact L, please e-mail her at

xyz@xyz.com

If you wish to speak to L in person, please email her and she will reply to you directly with her telephone number."

TBH I don't want my number or address sprawled across the internet, you don't know who might look at my site. And I'm not being funny, but the ages you & I are, we're the perfect "Equestrian Girl" fantasy for some weirdos....

Glad you didn't give him your address. By making people email you, you can gauge their authenticity - I had a spam email a while ago, and you could tell it a mile off.

Hmm, well does sounds dubious, but, in the unlikely event he was a 'benevolant well meaning if a little dotty person' as you so well put it, and deposits large sums of money into your paypal account, let us know!!

I have previously had a dodgy phone call from a guy who said he had a nappy horse. He said he was after livery, but as the phone call continued he started talking about whipping the horse and whether I could do that for him. Kept going on about it until I gave a swift good bye and since found out he had been calling alot of equestrian people in the area and getting his kicks talking to ladies about whipping and such!!!! Could be the same guy, the phone call sounded genuine at first and he kept telling me he would pay double standard livery for me to have the horse. Just con't give your address or any bank details whatever you do.

yeah I only had my mob number (so could change it if needed) and an email address on site but have removed number now. No email has come through so guess he was a prank call...

Hhhmmmmm equestrian fantasy! hahahhahaha
