Oh, Good Grief...

Stuff like this truely does disgust you

I will never ever understand why people have animals if they don't want to care for them. And I understand even less why they won't ask for help, sell them, give them away or even PTS if there's no other option.

Just why bother at all ????

Sadly, I think that these people (??) are so b****y ignorant, that they don't know how to look after a hamster, let alone ponies/horses.

"True knowledge is knowing the extent of ones ignorance" - this applies here.

Just dreadful!

When these cases crop up (more and more frequently, it seems) it just makes you wonder how many more poor animals are suffering in similar circumstances and are not discovered, or found too late. I can't begin to understand what sort of mentality keeps animals like this, but they need dealing with in the severest manner.

Why on earth was the owner given 'numerous chances to improve conditions'? Surely one chance is more than enough

That is a question I would very much like an answer to, too - Mrs M.

Apalling!

What I don't understand is what benefit the owner was getting from having the horses?? He can't ride them, he obviously doesn't enjoy any contact with them, even for money they can't be worth much, if anything, in that condition! So if he's not keeping them for enjoyment or financial reasons then what the hell is the point of putting the poor things through all that?? Financial reasons is absolutely no excuse for it and would still be a disgrace but my point is surely it would have been less hassle to give them away as he wouldn't be harrassed by animal welfare people anymore? Some people need their heads checking urgently! Poor poor little ponies, I'm so glad that they are all ok now and I hope they find some really nice homes to make up for their horrendous start. Owner should be sentenced to months in a box with only his own poo for bedding, see how he likes it.

What I don't understand is that they gave the owner a chance to improve the conditions . How?! Surely there wouldn't have been any real way that their condition could've improved there?

They do a fantastic job though

We have a welfare group in this country which is called the RSPCA. The P stands for PREVENTION, the C for CRUELTY.

As with the bloody Amersham situation - yet again other organisations are picking up the pieces when there is no prevention of cruelty.

What is wrong with this country???????

You know how stupid i am with computers.

Thank you for alerting us, I have donated money. I think people like this are ill and so unhealthy to themselves and other humans that they simply cannot muster up the compassion and understanding that keeping animals needs.

I ask myself that question every time I see one of these cases, and also on the two occasions I have reported owners locally.
