Seeing as though the snow has got most of us house bound on the internet instead of riding I thought I'd start a thread about how things have changed for us...

I was laughing this morning about hacking out - how these days, I'd plan a long (2 hour) hack in advance and it would be a big deal... where as when I was a child (12yo) me and a friend would finish school, tack up and hack out (for miles) we'd take the ponies down through the local town and meet *ahem* boys

and then we'd piggy back ride around for hours before heading home! We'd be gone for hours - hacking on main roads without a care in the world! I just wouldn't dream of doing that every night these days!

The things we got up to - I couldn't tell you them all! LOL!

So how have things changed for you over the years?

Yep! Me an my pony were bezzie mates! We'd go anywhere unphased! We were such a great team an got up to bags of mischief! Diff story now! My boy is gorgeous but we're very well behaved!

I used to not be able to hack for hours due to an old slow pony. A long hack then would barely count as a leg stretch now!

We used to mybe jump one of two jumps on the ponies before giving up, untacking, turning said ponies out and just "showjumping" over the jumps without them! This method also applied to any pony club games...
