....that I bought that little Quarter Horse the other day

.

She's a nice little horse. She is called Spirit and she is 14.2hh and rising 5 years old in May. I would imagine she hasn't done a whole lot in her life but she is a trier and has a lovely nature.

We plan to have her and my daughter doing a bit of showjumping this year just at some local and county shows, perhaps take her to work some cattle and just generally have a good time on her.

Anyway, here was a piccy I took of her after my daughter had finished trying her out.

So we bought her and brought her home with us and moved her into the field which is part of the babies paddock.

Then after a little while I opened the adjoining gate and allowed them all to become familiar with one another. Here is Spirit meeting my mare Golden who is the herd leader.

Golden accepted her immediately as I thought she would.

Later on Spirit went for a little wander into the baby paddock and then returned to the large field.

And she had a bunch of small followers.

Then daughter took her out for a quick play in the round pen.

Spirit shouted to her new-found friends.

And then settled down.

Will give you an update on how she is getting on and improving later in the year. May need to use another saddle though as Meg's saddle does her no favours at all. I hope I don't have to buy another as I have saddles coming out of my ears

Lovely photos!

She is very cute, your daughter looks so happy on her!

Is this the mare you posted about the other week?

I love the pic with her band of followers!

I must say she looks much nicer in your pics than in the initial ones you showed! It is amazing what poor pics people will use to sell a horse. Hope Megan has lots of fun and success with her.

LOL!! The daft child has at least 6 pairs of winter gloves
cool.gif
. She won't ride in gloves. It really was soooo cold that day, -20 celsuis
shocked.gif
. I was all wrapped up in MY thick winter gloves taking the photos

Yes this is the horse that I posted about (with the dreadful photos).

Lovely little mare and I do like the pic of the followers - made me giggle. I wish your daughter was over here - I could really user her as I have been getting over the flu (never been so ill in over 27 years) and haven't been able to face getting on Stinky for a month - just started ground work last weekend and will hop on this weekend.

Hope they both have a lovely time over the summer together.

Thanks everyone.

Theresa, if Meg was in England she would take you up on it - she loves to ride any type of horse.

PMSL!!! I did tell you that people use horrendous pictures to sell their horses over here and never to believe what you see until you see in real life.

Just to confirm, it is the same horse wearing the same minging halter

I think you know me pretty well
wink.gif
. I have been to see others but this one really held something for me and I was really looking forward to meeting her. When I did, although I didn't really get along with riding her, daughter did!

This little horse has a wonderful pop in her - bascules beautifully over the jumps - but knows nothing yet. Meg will have her ship-shape in no time I'm sure.

Awwww, we all know how much of a fan Megan is of her greys.

I think Spirit (love the name too) is a cracker! What a smashing little horse she is. Well done...another good buy!

Can't wait to hear how they get on. Which one is Legacy in the pictures?

She does have beautiful eyes. She isn't perfect but she's also not that badly a put together little QH. It will be interesting to see how she grows and blossoms.

Sallypops - thank you. I think I still own 23 horses (that was last count a couple of months ago; 1 was sold and this 1 was bought). We have just over 40 horses living here in total.

Naw shes adorable

Love the pic of them following, the sky looks really romantic lol

I wear gloves and thick thermal riding trouser in 2 degrees here lol

In the photo where the foals are all following Spirit, Legacy is the last foal slightly to the left of Golden way down the other end of the paddock. Legacy actually adores Spirit - she knows that Spirit is how her mother should be; I always said Cloud was really a 14.2hh with her legs chopped off!

I used to have a trail riding farm but I stopped doing that last year - too time consuming, so jacked it in. I sold most of the trail horses so now we just have our own private horses and my seller-ons. We buy foals/yearlings and the occasional slightly older youngster, we produce them and then sell them at 3 or 4 years old. I like to sell at least 4 horses a year (generally more and that is where the slightly older ones, aged 3 or 4 or 5, come in) and I have stock to keep me going at this rate for 3 years.

Thank you.

Your daughter looks to be having a lovely time, and I love the "followers" pic too. Just to pick your brains please - how long were they separated before you allowed them all together ?
