I have just e-mailed to enquire about another greyhound

She is ten years old this month...

I'm not sure if they will let me have her, as I work etc, but I cannot resist that little face
crazy.gif
I know it will be heartache because she is elderly already, but someone needs to give her a loving home and a warm sofa at night
smile.gif

It's not good.
I've just been looking at GRWE site again, they have a saluki x with no tail...
Oh and another saluki x the same colour as my old boy..

Go for it!! I would love another fog but OH won't let me. Ans in light of tonights events he may well be right, much though I hate to admit it!
Might have to look for another neddy instead....he he.

I noticed the saluki x ones, they are stunning
smile.gif
Go on, you know you want another one
tongue.gif

They have e-mailed back already to say that they might have a home for her already
frown.gif
But so long as it will be a nice home for her I suppose it doesnt really matter who it is with
smile.gif

Enquire about Hamish now, before it is too late
grin.gif
HHOers could try and adopt three GRWE dogs in one evening
tongue.gif
- I will have black Ruby, Superstar can have Hamish and IrishCobs can have one of the Saluki x's
grin.gif

I'd really, really like to but we're working on the house before we move in and we're not sure when we'll be in yet
frown.gif
Will have a chat with OH tonight when he gets in

Go Henmeister, you need a proper dog as well as Otto
grin.gif
And of course he DOES need company
tongue.gif
I loved Poppy too, I am just more of a sucker for the old ones so black Ruby got my vote
crazy.gif

I would love another dog, but OH won't let me... for now
grin.gif

We just don't have enough room, plus I think our landlords wouldn't be too happy with yet another addition to the household
grin.gif

Funnily enough I think Otto has realised the benefits of being the only dog and having two owners that spoil him rotten, another dog would mean having to share!
grin.gif

LOL, I could tell even from his photos that Otto is a very very happy and spoilt hound
grin.gif
Sharing would be a bit naff I can see
tongue.gif

My tenancy agreement stipulates maximum 2 dogs, but since my landlords have come around about once in the year that I have been here I am banking on them having no idea if I get a 3rd dog
grin.gif
And if they do find out, it is my sisters dog who I am looking after for a while as the kids are ill
tongue.gif

Well as our house is actually joined to our landlords house, they might notice if we snuck another one in
grin.gif

I'm working on OH
grin.gif
But he isn't giving in at the moment!
mad.gif

I keep telling him lurchers and greyhounds fit into tiny spaces, so technically it would be smaller than Otto....

.....looks at Flick (who is a Very Small Greyhound) taking up 2/3rds of the sofa...... yeah, yeah they hardly take up any space, honest

Acolyte, oh Acolyte, your resistance level seems to be below very low. First there was a post something like "It will be just me and Islay for a while." After a little this and that came "Meet my new dog Flick."
grin.gif
grin.gif

A while later came a post about having made "some enquiries about a third dog..." but as I recall, you where told it would probably be better to wait until maybe around June, to make sure you, Islay and Flick had all settled down together? This however seems like a new angle, "Don't blame me, blame ..."

By the way Acolyte, have you seen Star Trek, f. ex. Voyager? Rescue Greyhounds seems to have a Borg effect on you, one look deep into their eyes and "Resistance is futile"
k020.gif

Though your plan about it being your sisters dog if your landlord comes for a visit, sounds great to me. The more the better...

I am sorry F_L I am duly ashamed

blush.gif
But poor little Ruby would be hardly any bother, and she is very quiet....
tongue.gif

I fear you are right however, greyhounds ARE the new Borg (but slightly less scarey to deal with
smile.gif
) and I cannot resist...
shocked.gif

Saw at least 3 Greyhound Rescue stands at Crufts, with various greyhounds dotted around them (most sleeping I should add). Have to admit there is something about the greyhound expression that is so appealing. Think a rescue greyhound also went on daughters wish list
smirk.gif
When she hopefully qualifies I can see her getting a name as the vet who is a sucker for taking in waifs and strays
smile.gif

I think it's a tiny bit easier to be a big animals vet or vet nurse, than a small pets vet or vet nurse, to resist ending up with all your "clients" unwanted animals/pets. I have a feeling that small pets vets and vet nurses must have a very strong character or else their homes would be packed full. But if a big animals vet disagrees with a client about if a horse needs to be euthanized or not, a horse is still not something that you just could say the following about "I'll take it instead, I'm sure there's room enough left in the bedroom for one more - - - somewhere...".

She is hoping to be an equine vet eventually FLH, I am sure what she will say is "I am sure Mum has room for one more"
smile.gif

And slightly off topic, when we were walking round the Discover Dogs at Crufts there was a big sign saying Finnish Laphund, I really expected to find you there

As you know I have an old lady rescued at about the same age as Ruby and I can tell you old ladies are very demanding.....Indie nags worse than the others to go for a walk, she picks out all the best meaty bits from her food, leaves the dry stuff and looks at me with big brown eyes to tell me she's starving, she hogs enough bed for a small pony, her farts are not silent and are VERY deadly, I can't eat chocolate any more because the merest rustle of a wrapper brings her hurtling from her pit to pester me relentlessly (yet she cant hear me screaming at the top of my voice when I'm 10 feet away and she's got her nose down a bunny hole) and when it's time for bed (HER time NOT mine) she stands in front of me whining until I give in and we all go to bed. And I wouldn't swap her for the world
grin.gif
Hope Ruby finds a cosy home with someone even if it can't be you.

OOTP that is absolutely lovely to hear - would it be horrible to hope that Ruby's possible new home might fall through? Yes, it would I suppose, so I shall wait my turn for the next one... but she is very very sweet
smile.gif

I wish my curiosity had not got the better of me!! I've just been looking at the website, how can anyone resist them! I love the broken coated lurchers, I've always had a big soft spot for them. But really, I just want to bring all of them home....There sould be a warning posted somewhere! Resistance is futile

Oops, I didn't think of that risk/possibility when I chose my HHO user name, I assure you I do walk on two legs, I'm slightly taller and I'm not quite that hairy...

But good, the knowledge that Greyhounds are disguised Borgs seems to be spreading.

grin.gif
Actually two of Jonna's absolute dog favourites to meet out on our walks in the neighbourhood is two Greyhounds. And the two 9 months old puppies tends to listen to their mother...
