This afternoon OH wanted to do some more bareback work - his aim is a full day bareback to raise money for the air ambulance.

We decided to have a bit of fun, and he was getting me to put up the fence when they cleared it. They got to 1m30 then I decided they'd both had enough. That is comfortably the biggest fence OH has EVER jumped, and probably the biggest coloured fence Ron has jumped. Very proud of them both.

I video'd him for some of it, but then the camera died so we didn't get the last few jumps. He's coming along, but still loses it a bit when he has to give Ron a boot, or when he releases his hands. This vid is of about 85cm.

It is the best feeling jumping bareback, I used to jump my 14.2 connemara over 130/135 fairly regularly and he loved it :) Plus I ride much better bareback as you can't fiddle so much!

In days gone by I used to love riding bareback and entered a few bareback jumping classes at our local riding club shows with my Zebedee - this is us giving it a go - we would never be brave enough to jump 1.30 though.

I'm not sure which one was more pleased with themselves!! OH is very secure without a saddle, and Ron isn't the easiest horse to jump - as he's short backed he pings you forwards as his back end comes up!

when we turned Ron out a bit later on he was still trotting about smugly! You could just about hear him going "I'm da Maaaan!" :D
